What a mess
For any New Englanders out there.
Spent a few nights out on Cape Cod at Nickerson SP. The Gypsy moth caterpillars are just hatching, eating what little is left to the vegetation after the last 2 years of the same. In 3 nights the little buggers managed to cover the truck and camper with $&!%. Rained the last night which reconstituted the $&!%. Attempting to clean it off at home with soap and water doesn't work, full strength Purple or Green cleaner works to some extent. The roof and the awning are stained pretty bad, came off the truck fine.
Moral, don't park near trees during gypsy moth season in eastern MA.
Can't imagine what it'd be like once the caterpillars grow to full size, these were once little 1/4" fellas.

Doesn't come out too well as I had already rinsed off the worst of it. Just leaves the stains that look a lot like coffee stains.

Interestingly enough, we were stopped at the California border for inspection of the trailer for Gypsy moths.

I would think that'd work, of course I just spent 2 days waxing the roof a few weeks ago. I'm a little hesitant on using a scrubbing cleanser on it, might try some paint cleaner first.

Bug Melt? I first heard about this stuff at the rally in 2015. It's amazing stuff and doesn't remove wax... just all the bug guts, blood and all. I love it for the front of my F-150... that chrome grill can get nasty and this stuff works!

Did you try it on the front of the trailer? I find those harder to remove then the ones on the front of the truck.
Midwest grasshoppers in Sept, it's like driving through a locust swarm. Looked like I got egged.

Paint thinner just might work the best. Oh, be sure to go back in August for the green flies.

WD40 works very well. Bugs be gone. But, like pretty much any solvent, it will also strip the wax off the gelcoat, requiring you to wax after cleaning.
