Taillight Replacement (need some advice)

One of my rear taillights has some LED’s that are not working so I bought a new replacement light and some Proflex.

Do I just put some Proflex around the perimeter of the new light after wiring it up and screw it back down to the camper shell?

When you pull the old one of you will most likely find some brown sticky material where the wires go into the shell. That is butyl tape. There are different grades and the best stuff isn't necessarily off the shelf. Window companies have it and the one near me gave me enough to do it. Probably not a huge thing, yet be aware of that.

For the Proflex- first you will need too completely remove the existing Proflex & acetone is the best thing to get it all off. On mine it was just a bead across the top and half way down the sides.

The point of not sealing the bottom of the light is to allow any moisture to drain away.

On my 2021 the OE part number is Bargman 47-54-001.

Google that for many competitive vendors

Another take: Drill [2] ⅛" weep holes in the bottom of the lens. I'm guessing the tail lights are @ 2" wide. So, somewhere close to the middle. These holes will flush out and/or prevent condensation from forming inside lens housing. The factory installed sealant wasn't enough to prevent leaks from occurring. I ended up replacing 3 'tail lights' (two on the sides/one in the back that had shorted out) I did go back with Proflex.

Jim Norman gave me this tip.

The screws on both our tail lights pulled out of the fiberglass shell before we got home with the new-but-demo trailer (lights were hanging by the wiring). I put sheet metal clips inside the fiberglass shell for the screws to bite into; and used "Through-The-Roof" caulk on the top and sides of the lenses, because we had an open tube. Seems to be holding after 4-5 years.

Bargman 47-54-001 taillights

I'm needing to replace two of the bargman led 47-54-001 taillights on my trailer. However I cannot find a supplier. Not available on Amazon any longer, and none of the listed suppliers that come up in a search on line have any. I've contacted bargman directly and understand they've been discontinued. ETI does not have any available Anyone have recommendations for a source? Thanks.

What is Escape currently using instead of the 47-54-001?

Would that be a suitable replacement?

They do have a replacement they are using, and I might do that but they are dissimilar enough I would want to do all four. At this point would like to exhaust all opportunities to try and find exact match. Thanks for the response!

Thanks for looking! It could very well be the same light ETI is using as a replacement. I'll keep looking and hopefully come up with something. It's an odd situation they all work fine as brake and signal but as taillights two of them don't fully light up, until after they have been powered up for several minutes. (Hard to describe more of a visual thing). Advice I've been given are the diodes are failing.

Etrailer offers a “close” replacement. 1” longer but more diodes.

Thanks. ETI has a reasonably priced substitute. I may consider that an option if all else fails. ..
