New 2016 Toyota Tacoma Tow Vehicle

We got a 2016 Tacoma this week. It took me three days to find the brake controller connection. The manual does not show the correct location and the harness model isn't listed yet by Toyota for the...

I like the photo of Ron's thick Velcro straps. It looks like they are below the mounting bracket, which some would argue that it should go through. But being so close to the bracket there is no...

Catastrophic awning failure

My awning came completely off last weekend. The fabric ripped straight along where it connects to the trailer. Please learn from my misfortune and always use some sort of strap near the top of the...

Re: Advice from the cooks out there1

Fresh chocolate chip cookies out of the oven are a wonderful treat after a day of playing in the wilderness. Our kids seem to keep having fundraisers with pre-made cookie dough lumps. They store good...

Re: New Forum Category - For Your Consideration/Discussion

I think the "Show your Escape" category pretty well fits the bill for announcing a new upcoming Escape to the family. It's always fun to read about the option selection process and when it gets close...

Re: Where in bed do you put your head?

We sleep with our heads on the passenger side. Seems less confined than next to the fridge wall. Further away from the water pump, heater and fridge noises. Eyeglasses convenient to stash next to...

Re: Tick - Tock

I truly appreciate the front storage box every time we set up camp. It's great to have all the blocks, chocks, power chord and water hose so accessable. I've got a toolbox in the vehicle, but with...

Re: If You Could Design My new Trailer and Pick My Options......

The duel batteries last well for 4 - 5 days of dry camping, so I don't find solar panels to be a necessity. We have foam on top of the bed pad, but imagine that the new mattresses used would make the...

Re: What would you change.....

I think the windows on the 19' are great the way they are. I've been pleased with the options on our 19'.

One thing that caught my eye on this forum this last year is the A/C unit someone had...

Re: Escape "Cot" option

On the 19' the seat (with the table down for a bed) goes out further than the cot, so there is something to step up onto in order to get to the cot. Getting down just requires gravity ;D

Re: To stick or to suction -- getting hooked

I'll put my vote in for suction cup hooks, bathroom mirror and toothpaste/brush holder. The suction cups lock down well for a couple trips. I end up removing them occasionally to make sure they don't...

Re: 2012 calender

Outstanding calendar. Thanks Tammy and Reace.
One minor correction to the minor correction, I think you are referring to the Hoh river in WA, not OR. (Or was that meant as an either "OR" statement?...

Re: Shelf versus "cubby" with door

I asked Reace to run a 12V wire up to the shelf above the dinette when ordering our 19'. It's handy for an mp3 player and speakers on the shelf. I'm not sure if they could put an outlet in the corner...

Re: 17' vs. 19' sleeping

I thought I saw some comments on the forum saying that Escape has gone to a real mattress in the 19, much more accomidating than the prior foam. We have some cheap 3 1/2" foam in home sewn covers on...

Re: Gray tank sensor cleaner

Escape makes one very similar to this. In February I bought one when picking up the trailer. They said that they customized the hole directions so that the spray would do a good job hitting the water...

Re: Solar vs Generator

I think there is merit in adding solar if you plan to be parked with out services for at least a week, parked for more than a weekend using a laptop, or have devices for health needs that consume...

Re: BAL X-Chocks

Liz - You made me curious. I removed the X-Chock on the door side, and could definitely see a difference. When I rocked back and forth there was noticable trailer movement, although not as much as...

Re: BAL X-Chocks

Thanks for the info on X-Chocks. I ordered some from Camping World and received them yesterday. They make the trailer feel remarkably solid. I think it is a much better solution for 19' dual axle...

Re: Sewer Solution

Is there really a need to get a clear pipe? :P
I would go for a black one and listen for the flow to stop. Am I missing something?

Re: Which Trailer Did You choose and Why? 5.0 or the 19Ft Trailer?

I find the bed on the 19 footer works well to prop up some pillows, relax, read and and enjoy the views. I agree most sites end up with a better view from back end of the trailer, but that seems to...
