Fair enough - less drag per unit of area. That's what I meant by "effective" frontal area. Although it doesn't actually reduce the amount of frontal area, the effect of it is lessened.

You might be surprised. The "drag" feel you mention is greatly influenced by two things: the frontal area of the trailer and the direction of the wind. There's a remarkable difference between towing...
