Pat, what is this trailer pool you refer too?
I really don't think I would get a dropped axle. While I do question whether I really needed the 2" raised one I got, I definitely would not drop it either. It could have an effect on resale as well. If the hitch is 2" higher then the ball, I would just use a 2" raised stem in the receiver.
