Installing old WD hitch on new 21C?

We have a WD hitch from our prior trailer that we to would like use on our new 21C when we finally get it. The hitch worked very well on our prior 2010 17B, but does not seem to have any identification on it that I can find. It appears to be very similar to an EAZ lift hitch which uses chains and round bars. It was probably part of the original trailer purchase from ETI, but I do not know for sure.

I intend to get the front storage box and need to know if the brackets that mount to the trailer tongue can be installed so they do not interfere with either the box or the propane tanks. The brackets are 'u' shaped and just slide down over the square trailer frame and are fixed in place with a set bolt.

I guess I really need answers to the following questions:
1. What is the trailer frame width on the current 21C? The brackets fit snugly over the 2010 frame.
2. What is the measurement from the front of the trailer hitch back to the area where the brackets would be mounted? Is there space between the box and tanks where they can be mounted? They need about 3" clear to be able to mount and operate them.
3. I have always wondered, do the chains have to be vertical, or can they be angled some and still function properly?

You likely have the Pro Series RB2 WDH. Had the same on my 2010 17B then when we moved up to a new 21 had ETI install the Andersen. Didn't like it and LSS bought a Pro Series and installed it myself.

It is not difficult to install; perhaps ETI would do it while your doing your Orientation. If not, you can probably download the install instructions to do it yourself.

The bracket is 31" from the tip of the coupler to the middle of the bracket.

Looks very similar to the hitch we have. You answered both my questions with only one photo...very efficient! Should be easy to install.
Thanks

I think that the frame size is different between the 17 and 21. The 21 frame is 2" x 4". I looked at mine and don't think that makes any difference as the bracket will accommodate a wide range of widths and the depth of the "U" shape bracket probably isn't a factor either.

a WDH that was used for pulling a significantly heavier trailer likely has spring bars designed for 600-1200 lb tongue weights, and 6000-12000 lb trailers, while the E21 is 450-500 lb tongue weight typical, and would best be used with max 600 lb bars.

Ron :
Based upon your reply I actually measured my 2010 17B frame and it is 1 5/8" measured horizontally, which is the critical dimension for the hitch bracket. The bracket itself measures 2 7/8", with the set bolt taking up the difference, so I should have no problem as long as there is sufficient space between the box and the propane tanks.

John:
Good point. The current 17B has a tongue weight of 306 lbs, with the current 21C being at 366 lbs, so we should be ok with the bars. Worth checking.

Same width as mine. Although mine looks like it would take a 3" wide frame. Guess that means I can take it with me when I move up to a monster stickie.

Mine has 600 lb. bars. Same as I had on my 19. Works for me.

Those are the correct bars- 1000 lb. bars would be too stiff, however should you lose your mind & go Monster Stickie those probably won't work very well.
