I have the A.R.E. CX Classic on my GMC Canyon AT4. In combination with the Bedrug liner, it's a nice dry, padded area to put my gear in. I optioned it with windoors and LED lighting when anything is opened. Love it.

I just bought a Snugtop canopy to replace the tonneau cover that I'd been using the past few years. It certainly added a lot more cubic feet of space to my pickup.

I did get it with the front window that swings down. I wish I would have gotten it with side windows that can swing open because having to get everything from the very back is a pain in the rear.

The Sungtop came with matching paint - it looks really nice and although it lets a little dust in, it keeps more dust and water out than my tonneau cover did. Because is have a more rare truck (Ram 1500 with a Quad-Cab), I didn't have as many choices as you'll probably have.

I bought my Century T Class high top canopy for my 2019 F150 and it's color match, I was told Century is made by Leer which was more expensive. I am really pleased with quality and fit. At the time of ordering I got a bonus option of my choice and I picked removable front window to allow for cleaning cab truck window. With the high rear profile of canopy opening I easily get large items and access to box. Also with my box slide I pull it out and load then slide in to bed. Great for hauling camping gear, bikes, and even large trees.

Had just the topper in past for many years before finding the shell . Find no difference in gas mileage with the shell which made us happy .The price gas is awful here . Our truck is a F250 though so already can carry weight . She carried a 91/2 camper for 12 years before our trailer . Can see great out of windows too . So everything makes us happy with this shell including having some height which the topper before didn’t give us. As for removing not going to be doing a lot of that anymore . We find our Subaru Forester carry’s a lot and if needed building supplies like concrete, fencing they still go in the truck . Have seen a lot of YouTube video’s on removing with slings , straps etc and then left for storage in garage . Since we will not be removing do not need at this time to worry about . See no reason for us to remove . Did have a previous Toyota and bought a shell and didn’t care for it . Too small . Maybe a difference with a bigger truck . Need to figure what you need but the gas mileage is still the same . It is the same height as the truck cab . Pat

I've got one of these and love it!

Hard cover with a lock - very secure. Rolls up to a box that is maybe 8 or 10 inches deep at the front of the bed.

We've been very happy with our Leer 180XL mid-rise on our 2016 F-150 short bed. The mid-rise was tall enough for our bikes to fit standing (minus the front wheels), and we feel the mid-rise maybe also helps a little with towing aerodynamics (at least it raises the bug splatter line). It has the single latch handle in the middle, but we've never had trouble with it or the cables. The carpet lining adds a nice look with our Line-X bed spray lining. When first installed, it leaked around the accessory brake light because the factory forgot to install the rubber gasket (easy fix). It also slipped back on the bed about a 1/4" before we noticed it. Another simple fix by repositioning and tightening the mounting bolts (we keep an eye on them now). Not a problem seeing rear traffic in the center-mount rear-view mirror when not towing. All-in-all, we'd buy the same cap in a heartbeat. Not to your question, but the one thing I would change is buying the 6.5' bed next time. You never realize how many things you want to haul that are 6' long until you buy a 5.5' bed.

fwiw, a superduty longbed, the 'cab' height shell can easily hold normal bikes upright, only my wife's 'comfort' bike which has ridiculously high handlebars doesn't clear the door, and even then once its inside can be stood upright.

Granted, but the little bit of extra height in the mid-rise cab makes the loading and positioning of our bikes relatively hassle free.

For our new 2021 F-150, the ARE mid-rise cap is unavailable. You can get a high rise, but we’re not. It’s disappointing, to say the least….
