Camping in or near Waco, TX

We are planning a late Fall trip to Waco, TX and we have been researching camping and RV campgrounds. Of course the reviews make all of them sound amazing but we know better. Anyone have first hand experience with camping in that area? We will be staying for about a week and would prefer to be close or in the city.

Thanks.

We've stayed here a couple of times on short overnights as we made our way to the gulf.

It's clean, quiet and a 10-15 minute drive into town. I would definitely consider staying here if we had to be close to Waco for a number of days.

We also considered this place because its a little closer to town but it is right next to the highway.

Huskersteffy, thanks so much for the recommendation. We arrived Thanksgiving day and the place was hopping. We were a bit concerned but in the evening everyone was quiet. The place cleared out on Black Friday and only four campers, including us and some folks in a Casita remained. The showers and restrooms could use some TLC but they are cleaned everyday and the hot water is plentiful. It served well as a base camp as we explored the area. We highly recommend this ACE campground.
