I believe you could either work outside to inside or vice versa. I always start inside and work to the outside. Clean the inside, air it out and make sure everything inside works. Then I move to the outside focusing first on mechanical like wheel bearings, brakes, jacks, doors/windows etc. Once I have everything inside and out working, I address the cosmetic stuff.
I've never covered an RV, or car or anything for that matter so I can't help you there.
