The overall width of a 5.0 TA is 88" (the usable inside width will be somewhat less); a North American King bed is 76" wide, so it would be marginal.

Took the big hit today...went to the DMV to get My Dream legal, AND pay the sales tax (6.25%), ouch!! It took about an hour, because they where short handed and the lady I got was new...all the paper work . I felt sorry for her and apologized for it being so difficult, but it was all good and all smiles.
Can't wait for my little gem to get here!

We took the same hit last week, but it feels good to have the license plate in our hands.
The particular teller we had at the MA RMV was going to tax us the Canadian amount as if it was US dollars, but we actually paid US dollars. So the kind folks at Escape gave us a new bill of sale with the base price in US dollars. I am not sure if I am explaining this correctly. The result was that we saved over $100 in tax. I suppose that seems trivial in light of the trailer and trip expenses...
Great that you have the paperwork behind you, Vicki!

Vicki, I know how you feel, two weeks ago had to pay tax on our new to us 5.0 (Alf's previous one) and it's 8% provincial tax but had I bought the trailer from a dealer I would have as well the 5% goods and services tax like I had to pay when we bought out truck back in April. 13% on most everything we buy here - we gotta pay for our "free" health care somehow!
Enjoy your new Escape!

Wow, that is tough! I can't complain too much, we have no state income tax (yet), and I'm sure the good governor will use it well!

We also paid our sales tax today. Michigan 6% plus $200.00 weight fee and $15.00 registration fee. Our plates are permanent and we do not have to apply for a yearly tag anymore. Our trailer loaded today. Should see it by the end of the week.

I live in a non-sales tax state... whew. But title, registration and plate will be close to $400. THEN, I pay every two years for new registration and tags... and it's by the foot. Wonder if I can convince DMV I bought a 13' trailer instead of something 20'+
Figures, the Scamp just turned 26 y/o and could get permanent tags.
And so it goes...

6 weeks from yesterday is our pick up day, so I'm thinking that we might start receiving pictures soon! Woo hoo!
Just had our first ever trip to Camping World last Saturday--so fun!! Good thing we are three hours from there or we could get in trouble there more often. But we got some great accessories for the Escape.
Oh, and just for more fun after Camping World, we saw Cher for her final final farewell tour! Amazingly fabulous!!! All the fun helps pass the time while we wait for our Escape adventure to begin!

Yahoo! We are now proud owners of a 5.0 TA
Yahoo!
Thanks to Reace and Tammy we are now the proud owners of a 2014 5.0 TA. Also thank you to Dennis for towing it down to Sumas for us. We made the transfer at Bob's Burgers where we stopped for a celebratory piece of pie and coffee.
We drove it back up over the border and are spending our last night here in Chilliwack at the hotel where we had stored all of our "stuff" for the trailer. We will become True Escapees tomorrow.

Is there a delivery charge to get it to Sumas? Why not just take possession in Chilli? Just curious.
How long a drive between the two?

Americans take possession in Sumas - the trailer is exported to the US- otherwise you will pay Canadian taxes. We took possession in Sumas and drove to DMV the next day and paid our state taxes and got our WA state plates. You will need a temporary trip permit from your DMV.

Reason for taking it to Sumas is that the US customer doesn't have to pay Canadian taxes and then apply to get reimbursed. Was a paperwork hassle before Escape started "exporting" the trailer.

ETI has to assure US destined trailers are exported so they don't have to collect sales taxes totaling about 15%.
It's probably 20 minutes to the border + crossing time.

ETI makes it as easy as possible, financially, for US residents as they can.
When Vicki and I came back across the border from visiting ETI, the Canadian Customs Agent told us... ETI has their "stuff" together!
Guess where I'm picking up my 5er? (after orientation, obviously)
