This is starting to sound really interesting as Eileen and I were just discussing running away from next winter.

Question from Escape newbie;
This event (i.e., February 4th to 7th - Early bird Quartzsite Pre-Gathering (Mon thru Thurs), February 8th to 10th - Main Event (Friday thru Sunday)) does not require any kind of reservation/registration, correct, since it's on BLM land? just show up and register at the host's trailer?

Don't forget you need a BLM Permit:
BLM Permit: A BLM permit must be obtained and displayed on your trailer. These are available free of charge from the BLM host trailer located a mile or two from town on the frontage road.
This is different than registering at the gathering's Host trailer.

I think the equivalent business term would be "soft opening". Some folks are already nearby in long term areas, some show up a few days or more before the main weekend and some roll in on Friday night. The departure is similar, folks pack up and depart according to their own preferences.

Has anyone heard of an update for the 2019 Quartzsite gathering? My wife and I would like to go but are wondering how to sign up or reserve a spot? Thanks all

Don't worry about that, it's a big desert, room for all so there's no need to sign up ahead of time.
The only competition is for the limited number of badge/pins available.
There are two sign ups, one at the meeting site, when you arrive and the other for your 10 day free BLM permit.
