Myron: I assume cell service is sparse out at Quartzsite but just wondering how Thursday’s breakfast went. I see your trailer in Jon V’s blog album but I don’t see Jake (viator). I hope everyone had a good trip out.

Hi Jim,
Have you ever had one of those comas? I have them every once in a while and while some call them naps, they don’t know the real sensation.

Well we know Myron is there. Pic is from yesterday in Jon's album. Flying the flag he shared in an earlier post.

Yes, Myron is here. Spent half of yesterday trying to get his fridge going again. He postponed the great breakfast event until tomorrow because he's tied up with other things today.

Otherwise, nice to see a lot of the forum regulars here.

Thanks Ron, glad he is okay..... and hope you are enjoying yourself. We just had a heck of a storm blow through here last night and today, all rain but snow up north.

Ron: Did you happen to meet Jake (viator36) in a new 21 with a mini-split condenser on the rear? His tow vehicle is a newer blue Ford Ranger.

Hi Dave, I am here at Quartzsite and I met Myron on Wednesday when he was pulling into the site and a couple of more times after that but haven't met Ron yet. I can see Myron's trailer with the yellow flag from my trailer's dinette window.

As Ron said the breakfast cookup is delayed and he may do it today.

On a separate note I showed my trailer mini split system to two couples and mentioned it at a couple of informal evening happy hour gatherings so maybe there will be some more interested to take a look.

While there are still some of the 200 plus trailers gathered for the 2020 Quartzsite rally still left at Dome Rock, many have left ahead of the predicted rain. I have 3 pages of photos starting with the pre rally at 2020 Quartzsite Rally.

Greg, thanks for all the great rallies. Low key and lots of fun! There were so many wonderful people to meet and get to know. And the sunsets were fabulous!
Happy trails!

The Taylor ham pork roll thing? Did our best last week, yet distracting circumstances interfered with the logistics. For those who did not know where my morning cook-out was, this is what an (improvised) Taylor ham and egg breakfast sandwich looks like. A big shout out and thanks to Jake, love ya, who brought a perfect 3-pounder with him from NJ, and of course, to Dave, who mailed me one from Burlington County. Jersey guys!

Our trip out from New Mexico to Quartzsite was also less than perfect. High winds on I-40 really burned gas mileage. Saw an 18-wheeler lying on its side someplace between Winslow and Flagstaff. It was very windy but at least the AZ air was dry.

Dehitched at Deserts’ Edge RV on Tuesday. Had a long-planned consult with a back specialist at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. Mayo would not allow trailer parking in back of the hospital for that couple hours, because of ongoing construction there. Then, somebody dropped the ball - their back guy never got the right MRI images from our orthopedist in ABQ. It ended without resolution for Nancy. Mayo said if we come back Friday they could take new pictures of Nancy’s back.

On to Quartzsite. My Dometic RM8551 never cooled on propane. Thank you Ron, most grateful - you spent a generous amount of your time working on it, cleaning out carbon in the lines. Yet, even that failed to get it fixed. The AZ air maybe too dry? That expected new Dometic fridge sounds interesting.

Other issue: never found short in the trailer that kept blowing 15 amp fuse for ceiling lights. We relied on two LED ribbon strips I had installed that worked because they were on a different circuit. And, flashlights, including a great LED work light - an ETI favor I got at last year’s Osoyoos Rally.

My deepest apologies go to the guy at the swap meet who tripped over Josie’s long leash because I wasn’t careful with that. Fun dinner with the guys at the Mountain and Quail. Under the tents in town Nancy found a cool dog jacket, for her, and me tools. At the hot dog thing I leaned too close with my brats and got campfire singed. Friday we got up early, broke the sound barrier getting to Mayo in time for a ten o’clock appointment.

We enjoyed the great camp music, and Jon’s and Ron’s presentations. Harbored wishes for the Baja but it was not to be. Winds at Dome Rock the previous week were long gone, air was pleasantly sunny, if dry.

Driving back home on Monday the big concern was winter weather. Thought taking the northern route up to Flagstaff and east on I-40 portended a higher probability for snow. Decided on the southern route, stay on I-10 toward Lordsburg, and then up on US26 into Hatch (home to Sparky’s and their fantastic chili cheeseburgers) and on to I-25 north to ABQ. Weather so unpredictable.

That decision reasonable, ah, given a perfect world. After Lordsburg, on US26, rain suddenly turned into ice, then snow. US26 became a white knuckle drive through a snowstorm. Not a place you’d want to get stuck. Passed snow-covered Hatch chili farms we could not see. Managed to arrive safely at Hatch, took a breather, then onto I-25, but snowstorm then jacked up into a real mess. Interstate covered, very tricky. At Truth or Consequences highway maintenance trucks blocked off, closed the interstate. We exited at 1:30 pm, spent the night in T or C at WalMart.

Finally home the next day, greeted by sunny skies and yes, 10 inches of snow in the yard. In the supermarket Nancy then developed a massive nose bleed. The EMT guys came and stopped the bleeding, but for two days it kept returning big time, about 6 times. Later, the doctor at the emergency clinic in ABQ then assured us it was due to her blood thinners, and the dry air.

Ah, but it was Quartzsite, right? 1500 towing miles, seven gas stops.

Myron real nice write up . Glad you made it home . Found my problem with the refrigerator , on the cook top of the Oven one of the starter wires wasn ‘t attached . Even though our refrigerator was still working but having problems it didn’t have before . Also had to light the stove top burners with a lighter . We have a oven though . Reattached the piezo wire and everything is working again . Also checked the gas line with the manometer . Everything was working . Somehow that wire was affecting the gas to refrigerator and stove top. All good now .
Curious about just in case the new refrigerator ?
Thankyou again for sharing your pork roll .
Hope Nancy is feeling better too.
Because we have also same year and a 19 , if the fuse you are looking for is the one I am thinking off ... look under your dinette seat , to the right near the top almost can’t see , but put your head in there maybe a light and mirror to see it . Hope that is it .
Don’t forget to share the information on the new refrigerator and tell Nancy , Linda and I say hi ! Pat

Mike, with Happier Camper had been in Tucson for a Dometic event. Dometic selected them to test a new AC unit on their Demo which he brought to Quartzsite. It was a 6500 btu unit that is designed to be very quiet and run fine on battery. Mike had run it for about 4 hours on Sat on the flooded batteries, and said for those with Lithium it could run pretty much continuous.
They are in the process of getting it certified and it is not released yet. If all goes well, it will be released before long. Not much info beyond that, other than your wish for RV AC improvements is getting close, Dave.
It is super quiet and quite a step forward to see it in action.
