You had it right in the first place. Kate is one rowdy camper. I like that.

Just booked…my wife Gloria and I will be in site #70 in our 5.0.
I hadn’t been paying attention lately and so thanks to Ron ‘in BC’ for letting us know about the Rally. Worked out perfectly, we were planning to leave for NFLD on the 28th, so we’ll just leave a little earlier.

Iowa Dave: Please make sure you stop in again at this Rally and please let us know its you. We'd love to meet you. In answer to question #3. We have one in perfect condition, sorry not for sale and I'm thinking (hoping), when that sad day comes that we have to part with it, it won't go "cheap". Just sayin..........

Received my new Blackstone griddle today, now to season it in preparation for the Escape Rally in the Valley meet in May. Although I'm not camping physically, I am mentally camping and making preparations for the May meetup..... keeps me busy and happy...

For us first timers coming to the Rally. Could some one post the location of a grocery store near or before the camp ground. That is easy in and out with a trailer.
We will be crossing at Nighthawk ,Up 97 to 3 I guess. Would like to restock before arriving at campground.
Thanks

There are two in the town, the first will be on the right hand side as one turns into the town " Buy Low Foods" ..... the next is when one turns right into the street heading towards NK"Mip on the left side " Nesters Market " ...

I suggest you unload your trailer first at the cg and then head into town, which is nearby for supplies.....

We might be later in the day. I would like to get to campground and stay there.
By time I get set up could be dark, and I do t like driving around after dark.

Jim's advice is best of course , parking at Nester's is not great ... Buy Low at the town entry corner has better parking available for sure.

Be sure to go to both stores. Now granted it was 2015... so a while ago, but I remember the fresh vegetables and fruit at Buy Low Foods were pretty beat up. Glad we finally found the other store...

If you look at Google Street View, it will give you a good look at the parking lots for each. We stopped at Nesters last year on the way out of town w/trailer in tow and were fine, but there was a lot of available parking in part of the lot furthest from the store. We were able to get in/out of that parking lot just fine, but like any parking lot you need to go slow and be careful. We have never been to the Buy Low but Nesters was a fairly decent grocery store and they made pretty good sandwiches.
I forgot to mention that it is a good idea before your leave to return to the US, to inventory all of your food items, included so you know what you have when going through the border checkpoint. Even better still is if you can get a list of what the US does not allow you to bring across the border so you can ditch it before you cross.

Also, crossing at Nighthawk is a detour from any main travel route. Perhaps save yourself some time and just stick to 97 crossing at Oroville instead?

Speaking of a map view…we had been to 3 Rallies and no one had ever mentioned that there was a walking/biking short cut to town.
The attached map shows you an overview of the area and I marked in blue the only way to drive to the camp site office. Between Hwy 3 and the campground is a road through farm land and is not what I would consider walk/bike friendly as large camping vehicles pass.
However I have marked with a red circle a walking path through a gate that leads from the campground (yellow) to a nice quiet city street. The gate is down on the lower camping level near the lower washroom in that area. This can take you right into town…if you make it past the pub.
There is a small field with a path joining the two and I imagine that in the near future it will be developed into a town house project which may end the short cut.

I don't remember how we discovered it but it's certainly our preferred route for walking/biking into town.

Do we need to contact Escape Enterprises to sign up for the rally after we have our camping reservation?
