King of The Wild Frontier Gathering
Any info on the Wild Frontier Gathering at Davey Crockett State Park in Eastern TN?
On or not/dates, etc. Only a few miles from us so would consider it if on.

Well, this event did take place. The park is only a half hour or so from us, so we took a ride over there. Lots of occupied spaces for this time of year. Nice park. We counted 18 "eggs". One 17 Escape, one Oliver, one unidentifiable and the balance Scamps and Casitas. I wasn't quite up to taking our 5.O, but maybe next year if the event returns.

I can not see attending any meet/rally/gathering while we have quarantines in place?

Jim,
Yes, Both my wife and I have been very hesitant for many months now. We have had minimal contact with family and almost zero with friends, and then outside with masks and distance. If more folks had your mindset this Covid thing would be gone much quicker. At the park we talked to no one, just counted trailers and observed.

Actually it is “David” Crockett not “Davey”. Was there visiting friends in Chuckey TN just two weeks ago. Stayed at campground in June and it is a nice quiet park. Nice spacing there between sites so was easy to distance.

We attended this rally in 2018 and 2019. There were several Escapes there both years. Six or seven I believe. It was a good time. We did not attend any rallies this past season. Not to be picky but sincerely as a point of clarification the name of the park is David Crockett Birthplace State Park. The other David Crockett State Park is on the other end of Tennessee and that’s a long ways away. So if you go in the future be aware so you don’t end up a “fur piece” ( approximately 325 miles) from where you want to be.

You are right of course regarding the name, I apparently fell into the habit of some of the locals by naming the park incorrectly. I do know better and have noticed an effort by the press to differentiate the two similarly named parks. We do refer our visiting friends to the park, it is well maintained and has a lot to offer.

No worries. I was a little confused myself having rote memorization of the theme song “Born on a mountaintop In Tennessee and then seeing the plaque and standing in a creek/ river bottom was not what old Walt Disney led me to believe. He was big on imagination but mountaintop was a stretch. Nice looking crick though.

Iowa Dave ... you are too much. Met Mike & Sara S at Algonac rally and they lamented the fact that you were not there to entertain all. Look forward to meeting you in the future. Jim

Memory isn't what it was, but I either had a coonskin cap or wanted one.
"Davey... Davey Crockett, king of the wild frontier".
Keeps rolling through my brain.

The first year we attended this rally there was karaoke. Lots of notable crooning and the theme song was among the favorites. The tractor and garden tractor parades were memorable. And if you’ve never heard a two cycle,
one lunger Maytag engine hog down on a pair of dirty overalls, well you could have heard one order load there. A dog costume and talent show with prizes. pot luck with bourbon balls, seminars and pioneer activities on the grounds. It was a fun time. This Covid is getting me down. Hope I don’t start drinking (more). Jake, the French Brittany was ready to compete this year with a new outfit commemorating the derecho and my new close relationship with claims adjusters. Khakis.

Thanks for the great video of the Quartzite gathering earlier this year Myron. My wife and I enjoyed it. The continuous political ads these days are like mental covid. You can only shut the tv off, go do something else or die. If I’m still kicking in four years I’m going camping about September first and not coming home till after the election. Had snow yesterday that’s still on the ground today about 4 inches here. Have a good rest of the week. Thanks again.

Looks like a nice area. I was unaware of this National Forest facility. I’ve never spent much time in Texas and no time at all in East Texas. Perhaps, one of these days, months, years. Thanks for the heads up.

The King of the Wild Frontier gathering did take place. As far as Escapes, there were eventually two Escape 17B's (classic and new edition) plus one 21C. We were there with our Scamp 16. We owned it when we arrived, and it had new owners when we left. (We sold it there so the new MI owners didn't have to travel so far to GA).
We are scheduled to pick up our 19 Escape in Missoula, MT sometime next week. Picked a fine time with the winter storm warning, snow, and a low of 6 degrees F the morning before we pick it up.
If anyone is planning to attend the gathering next year, it is planned for the week of Oct 11-18 to fit after the Cherokee rally the weekend before, and the Hungry Mother gathering (hosted by Walt and his 17B) the weekend after.

I was just communicating with friends in San Jose, CA and they were chiding me about snow forecast-ed in my area. We did not get any, and I requested that they refer to it instead as "wildfire suppression precipitation". They came close to getting smoked and burned out.
