Anyone using a dehumidifier while trailer is sitting in driveway.

I just open some windows while it is sitting, unattended.

I use two passive dehumdifiers. Dry-Z-Air Classic. I use it after every trip to 'dry' out the cushions, upholstery, etc. and during winter storage. No windows or vents left open. I dump the water about every 3-4 weeks. My trailer is in a storage yard. I might use an electric model if I could plug in. DRI-Z-AIR® DEHUMIDIFIER - REFILLABLE MOISTURE ABSORBER - MADE IN THE USA

I've used this stuff since 2002, first in my Scamp and now in Ten Forward. No mold, ever.

I've heard of people putting charcoal in a perforated can to control humidity before.

Sounds cheap and interesting.

Does anyone know if it works?

I run a dehumidifier all the time my trailer is not in use. I set it on the “kitchen” counter and run a hose into the sink. Another hose is attached to the waste tank dump and the gray tank valve remains open. This hose goes under the back wall of a 3-sided carport and empties into a wooded area. The relative humidity stays around 50% all the time and the dehumidifier never has to be emptied. I keep a smaller dehumidifier in the wardrobe cabinet when traveling. I do not like overly humid air.

As far as charcoal is concerned, I would suspect that even if it has water absorbing properties, at some point it would become saturated and cease working.

What brand of humidifier do you use?

Current dehumidifier is a Hisense. It has lasted longer than the one in my house which seemingly has to work harder. I have an Ecoseb for traveling. Purchased it from Amazon but it is no longer available. Similar unit is the Ivation on Amazon.

We run a small dehumidifier all the time when trailer is not in use. It holds about a quart then shuts off. Good for a few days. Since trailer is under canopy in our back yard its no problem to empty.
Had a larger unit but it put too much heat out.
