Err_too_many_redirects

In recent days when I try to post something on this site, whether I'm using my laptop which is running Windows 7 Ultimate or on my Samsung Galaxy S7, I get this error message:

ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

This happens when I try to hit reply to a post. It then asks me to log in. I log in and it says thank you for logging in, and then tries to redirect me to the posting at which point it crashes.

If I try to login using the login tab it just keeps reloading the main website page and not going to the login page.

I searched this online and found a few helpful sites. One was related to V.2 or something which I guess is the engine that drives this forum. They said to clear cookies which I did, but that didn't seem to help. It also said to update my browser which is Google Chrome and that didn't help either.

The same site said it could be an update on the Forum site that is causing the problem. But for some reason I can post this message using an Antiquated version of the Samsung browser which I found on my phone. But I cannot post from Google Chrome.

I tried clearing cookies for the last hour, the last 24 hours, or for all time, as well as clearing all browser history and everything else. But nothing seems to work at least in Google Chrome.

Just FYI in case others are having the same problem.

I only use Chrome - on Windows 10 or Android - and have never had this problem, so I don't think it's the type of browser which is your issue. Windows 7 is antique (it won't even be supported by Microsoft in a year), which could perhaps be an issue on the PC; however, having the same problem on an unrelated platform (the Samsung phone) but with the same browser (Chrome) suggests that there may be an issue in something in your Chrome user profile.

The forum runs on vBulletin (currently using Version 3.8.8 Beta 4). vBulletin works, but the individual forum operator's installation choices affect reliability and functionality.

I get this all the time, too, if I'm using my iPad. Seems okay most of the time on Chrome (Mac).

I can't help myself but if they come up with a new Windows release I'm on it as quick as I can get it. I thought 10 was a big improvement. Might try going in that direction.
