Would it be possible to add a live chat java applet for registered users ? Several sites I visit have this feature it Is pretty fun to shoot the breeze when not actually out camping or even out camping and it rains..

No, I think it may leave some of us out when the discussion turns to topics that would benefit all of us. The best part of the forums (IMHO) are the archives.

Well I thought as a general shoot the breeze thing , call it a virtual camp fire. There are several load on use java applets that allow for a chat but no extra software needed.

The first T-shirt I bought online was looong before most of the WWW. Unix, when it was first starting into Linux... it even came with a permanent coffee stain. HA!
Love the AT&T labs for sharing...
AND, Archie was considered a Search Engine.... hahahahhhahahaha

Let see a trip down memory lane, 300 baud acoustic modem, dial up hit the old BBS for that cool new program to down load to my tape drive on my C64.. Then move on to learn Cal tech flavored Unix then hit the net searching with Gopher, Archie, Veronica, Jughead or who ever was working right that day. Finding a cool program and using Kermit or Z modem to grab it though it was go read book and wait time. AT&T really messed up never copyrighting UNIX but I suppose it goes in the history books along with 640k of memory should be enough memory ...:}

hahahahaha. Waiting for the modem to kick in, instead of hearing a dial tone. The only folks hooked up were SOME of the universities and the DOD.
Green bar paper anyone? Printed on a dot matrix. Gives me a headache...
Olay, admit it... some of us are OLD!

When I built my first kit computer, a Timex Sinclair, with 4k of memory 640k would have seemed like an impossible dream and a CAD system that let you walk through the structure when you were drawing simple lines by "Control D", unimaginable.
