New bot control system is annoying
Shows me a photo of a highway 1/2 mile away and asks if there is a bus in the photo. Come on!

Umm... how about a little more detail? Are you referring to the registration captcha (which is designed to cut down on spam bots) or something else?

No, it is the captcha which presents when you hit the search button. Sorry for the rant.

You should not see this if you are logged in. If you are logged in and seeing this please let me know about it as we may have something amiss.

Any chance you are using something like Privacy Badger or uBlock Origin? I have not noticed it on this site but I noticed on some other sites they can effect some features. I do not use the Escapeforum search function, I use googles.

I had one that asked me to check the panes that depicted store fronts, and I dare say I was correct in my selections and the programmer was wrong! But then again, I didn't really need to waste my time on that site anyway.

No, but I use a VPN. Perhaps that affects things.

It certainly can. When you browse with a VPN, you become essentially anonymous. Websites or ISPs can’t trace you, track you, or keep a log of you. Downside is that when they detect anomalies like multiple requests coming from the same IP (as happens using a VPN with a shared IP), they may interpret it as an attack, and then generate a captcha to verify your traffic.
In a few cases there is a workaround, depending on where the captcha is coming from. If it's Cloudflare for example, they offer a browser extension that places you on the "edge", so you're not annoyed by constant captcha verifications. But for the most part, those annoying verifications are the price of anonymity.
