How to properly remove dual six volt

What is the proper order to remove the cables from the dual six volt batteries with solar panel and inverter?
I believe of the four cables, the heavier gauge pair goes to the inverter, and the smaller pair go to the rest of the system.
I've unplugged from shore power, and used the battery disconnect switch. Is there anything else I should do?
And what order should I remove the cables? It looks like I'd have to remove the large negative first before I could remove the smaller one.

Disconnect the solar panel(s) from the controller first and (before disconnecting the solar controller from the battery). After that it doesn't really matter, although common practice it to remove the negative connections first.

Thanks
Pardon my ignorance, but I can just loosen the terminal screws on the controller and remove the two solar panel leads, all while sun is shining, and it won't arc or damage the controller?

Cover the panels first. While you are at it, you might consider installing a solar disconnect breaker, easy to do and cheap.

I deleted the box, removed the mount from it and installed the breaker in line just in front of the controller, now I don’t have to cover the panels.
By the way, a ten dollar battery lifting strap works wonders for my old back.

That makes complete sense installing the disconnect!

yeah, a GC2 lifting strap is nearly a MUST for picking up and moving golf cart batts.

After lifting those batteries I must agree. I'm going to get one of those straps!

This is a better idea. The heavier the load, the tighter the clamp. And, it doesn't hurt your hand!

I got it at either an O'Reilly's or AutoZone. Pretty common tool.

yeah, those are for generic batteries. the GC2/T105 golf cart batts have a pair of square 'lugs' on top meant for the hook strap I posted, which is like $5 or something..

I was going to buy a strap when I picked up my batteries and was pleasantly surprised to see my 6V Trojans have an attached strap.

Those suckers are Heavy!

Would a typical cheap pull out type non-fused disconnect rated for 60 amps for for a solar disconnect?
I have many of those on hand.
Or is the specific solar required?

Any idea what brand/type comes in a new Escape trailer for 6V batteries?

1" wide webbing strap

I added a 1" wide webbing strap, adjustable with its friction clasp for lifting my 6 year old Interstate batteries. I leave them on. More secure than a battery post lift strap, and my batteries have slotted attachment points already.

From your photo, your batteries also have the webbing strap attachment feature molded into the top of the battery housing.

every golf cart battery I've seen has those two square lugs sticking up, intended for the style of lifting strap I posted back in #6

Yes, but........the photo you posted has the markings on the strap saying
"DO NOT USE AFTER MAY 2019". No way am I going to the joint for that sort of flagrant violation.
