We use a Garmin 760, Google Maps, and paper maps of all kinds. Garmin does well when out of cell phone range. It is also relatively easy to use.
I also have a Garmin 64st. I absolutely hate it. I bought a upgraded map thingie to go with it. Very hard to use, difficult to follow it's logic. Did I mention I hate it? Another year or two and I will give it to Goodwill. That is about how long it will take for my wife to forget how much I paid for it...
I currently use a Garmin NUVI 3580 for the truck & an older 60CSX handheld for hiking. I tried one of the newer Garmin Drives since I wanted a larger screen for the F 150, but it dropped a bunch off the features that I liked that were on the older NUVI so I went back to it.
