April, Florida and Red Tide

We’re booked for Fort DeSoto April 17 to 21. Fort DeSoto is on a barrier island outside Tampa Bay. I am seeing reports of Red Tide south around Sarasota. We’ve not been down to Florida with the trailer and have no experience with Red Tide. Is this going to affect our camping trip? Should we make other plans?

Hi: Doug2000... I think you'll be ok. There is however two tolls to get through to get out there. The only spot avail for us was in the dog loop but that's ok too. Alf

I assume you have found the daily red tide map published by Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission
https://myfwc.maps.arcgis.com/apps/V...ec711d16462a72

They (https://myfwc.com/research/redtide/) also have a good discussion about possible human impacts on the website.

Looks like a lovely area!

It’s a bit of a drive from your campsite, but if you’ve never been to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary it’s well worth it.
