We were also without power. I boiled water for tea ( no, not for me ) out in the trailer. I was about to fuel up the generator when our lights came back on.
Trailer is our Escape plan.

I added several 12v plugs to our 21 build sheet (in part) so we can plug in our Endless Breeze fan wherever it will work best - which will depend on whether we have my mom or niece along with us and/or whether we are using the fan outdoors.
Also, we discovered on a recent trip to Europe that with two phones and two ipads, a camera battery and SD card reader to keep charged, having 3 adapters for the European plugs was barely enough. I know this affected my thinking on the number of 12v plugs we might need.

30 hours without power because of the windstorm. Extension cord to house from the trailer 1500 watt inverter.
1. Plugged in kitchen TV and while it didn't get the power back on any sooner at least we knew what was happening. Good also to have an OTA antenna.
2. Microwave used to heat food.
Did I ever mention that I'm a fan of having an inverter in the trailer

I'm switching over to USB 12v chargers as the next generation seems to be using more USB cables, implies having to carry separate cables. One might want to lookout their computer "black box" charger to see the spec's, possible to use 12v and eliminate the inverter need.

We were canoeing in Wells Grey when that storm hit us. Had no need for power, but it came up so fast while we were paddling, I think we could have used a washing machine for soiled clothing. It was downright scary, having the wind hit you with with quite severe blasts. We saw a big whirlwind/cyclone/twister on the water a couple kilometres from us. Soooooo glad we weren't there.
Anyway, for us, and inverter is a waste, as we have no need for 120V at all when trailering. Who knows though, maybe in the next one, but I doubt it.
A good way to dry hair if you have a lot of it, is to crank the heat in the trailer for a bit, and use the furnace. Or, just shave your head like I do.

If my wife wants to shave her head cause she can't run a hairdryer I'll get an inverter.

My wife has a great head of long curly hair. She has in frustration mentioned shaving like I do, but I certainly would not be good with that, myself.
