Cabinet doors
Hi, does anyone know if the solid wood cabinet doors are still an option on new Escapes? All the pics of new ones I’ve seen have the smoked glass looking inserts on the upper cabinets. I really prefer the solid wood look. TIA for any info.

I thought the acrylic inserts in cabinet doors was only for the maple doors. Might be wrong but I've never noticed oak doors with the inserts.
Know what you mean, I don't like them either but that's why folks are offered choices.

I would suggest you call ETI and ask. Those acrylic inserts were introduced after I bought my Escape. I really do not like them either.

As of last year, as Ron in BC pointed out, the Maple wood interior came with the acrylic panels in the cabinet doors and the Oak wood interior came with solid wood cabinet doors. Not sure if you can request solid wood doors in the Maple interior or not now? Keep us posted, if you find out. -Bea

I called Escape and found out:
- Maple interior comes with frosted plexiglass door on uppers
- Oak interior comes with solid door
- if you placed an order today - earliest completion date is January 2021

That's why I went with oak. I don't like the inserts, either. But I do like oak so that wasn't an issue.

Yes, but only on the maple wood interior. It’s on the upper cabinets. If you want solid wood and no inserts, you have to go with oak.

I am no expert on the Maple doors...but I think they are frosted (light) and not smoked (dark).

I like the frosted glass in our 2020 Escape 19 with maple interior. There is a youtube video where someone has put multicolour LED light strips in all the cabinets
Disco!

I guess we all see things differently. I just have a negative impression when I see them. I don't know if it's because they just look dark and hard to describe, grubby for lack of a better word. I'd probably like them more if they were semi-transparent.
What I'd really like to have is rattan inserts, like a lot of boats have. Looks nice and provides good ventilation. But since I'm too lazy to rip out our my solid panels and convert to rattan I'll just have to be happy with what I have.

What is the point of frosted glass inserts? You could light the inside of the cabinets, but you can't see through. And, if you could, what would you see?
I don't get it. What's on the telly?

Hi: eschee007... FWIW our 5.0TA has solid oak framed oak ply panel doors. I'm thinking that the Maple doesn't have a ply panel avail. for the doors, so they use frosted plexi. Maybe it's just cost effective IMHO!!!

You can tell if you left the light on in the cabinet when the door is closed.
