Woo hoo, Spring has sprung....

Supposed to get into the 80's later this week, I'm so looking forward to warmer weather outdoors.....we leave in 4 weeks to head to Chilliwack/Osoyoos, can not not wait!!!! I feel like a kid again around Christmas time.

I know what you mean. Saw an old post of mine from 2020 in which I was lamenting the fact that the border was closed to us and hoping things would be back to normal soon. Didn't exactly go that way.

Up to a couple of days ago we've been having frost on the roofs in the morning. Very, very unusual. Now rain. Summer can't come soon enough for me.

Yup, looking forward to the rally. As an interim pick me up I think that I'll open up the trailer and check all systems.

Do not get to excited. We were to get ours in Indy tomorrow but because of the awning shortage it is not complete. We are waiting for email, phone, something.

I'm on my second Escape, not even close to your record
I'm going to the rally this year first time hoping I can get to meet you and other people I see on this form all the time. And o by the way spring has not sprung on the Oregon coast, high wind and sideway rain

It will still be rather cool up Osooyos way, so you'll probably go through a fair bit of propane.

So, uh.... how much will you be asking for that rear-dinette 19? You know how it is in this market... we have to be proactive and quick to pick up those cherry preowneds.

That a surprising comment, we usually work at trying to find shade in Osoyoos in May.... bring lots of sunscreen..

Spring has sprung in Calgary as well we have some leafing out , tulips up, iris flowering ..... have still woken to a bit of snow a few morning, hopefully that turns to some rain soon ( we really need it)

The odd thing this year is that we're wondering how delayed spring is in Vancouver... because we haven't seen the 2022 " Rhubarb Index" ....

Alberta friends (and from more Eastern Canadian destinations), please check the roads. Kicking Horse Canyon is closed for one month starting this week...if that is your preferred route. Should be open by the Osoyoos weekend but you may wish to keep tabs on it.

The detour for the closure adds about 1 1/2 hrs to the trip west on Trans Canada hwy.... it's a very beautiful .... (course it could be a longer time impact if one is tempted by the Hot Springs ! )...

Glenn took out and gave away his rhubarb patch and my wife thought that a Rose of Sharon was a better use of space than my rhubarb patch.

I must have missed a root because some is sprouting up. Hope for a rhubarb-strawberry pie yet.

The Rose of Sharon behind it isn't looking so good. It started to bud early and then we had a cold couple of weeks and that seems to killed the buds.

What I'm really rooting for are some Lupins. We've seen them at roadsides all across Canada. Purchased ones did nada but a couple are sprouting up from wild seeds. Hope they survive.

Ron

You still might want to bring a sweater to Osoyoos. They are currently flying helicopters over the cherry orchards to blow away the cold air that has settled.

I believe so. They were in a packet of wild flower seeds planted last spring. Perennial.

I thought they looked like lupines. Mine are at the same stage. What gets me is that you see them at the edge of roads all over. Pretty nasty area. The soil can't be good and lot's of areas must have a lot of salt runoff. For two years we've been trying to get them going in good conditions but no luck. These wild seeds must be more hardy. Crossing my fingers.

Soil is a challenge in our area, lots of clay, Lupines like drainage. Our back garden has a slop so I am hoping the spot I chosen will produce some results. I do put in some annuals but mostly perennials - they have to be tough ones
