Big Bend National Park is closed

I'm not sure if Big Bend was closed previously, but in any case it has closed now due to a resident testing positive for COVID-19:

Sounds like it's just as well we canceled our planned trip to Glacier NP this summer. Only half open, and who knows how long that will last. I expect we will see much more of this in the coming weeks.

The uptick in cases is truly nationwide. Some are doing all they can to stop the spread and some are doing about all they can to increase the spread. I sure hate to see this in our country. Days, weeks and seasons and maybe a year or better start to mean something when you get older.

I have a feeling that this 4th of July will be the last straw that leads to the last hurrah !!
Drove into town this morning , everything seemed normal for a weekday except for the bars , they were packed !

Padre Island National Seashore restrictions.

One look at the picture speaks volumes about the problem.

Looks like only some folks that are, say 60 and over, take this serious, to some extent.

My daughter, an ICU nurse, took her 3 kids to the state beach today in CT. My daughter in law who's a PA at a hospital, took her kids, and 2 of their friends, to ME for a few days. The neighbors tell me it's similar in their families. I guess the counts drop in the state and folks forget all about the problem.

Camera perspective might make the Padre Island beach crowding look worse than it is. Some of those tents look pretty close together, though. Photos of Pensacola Beach (no tents) show people spaced apart. Not good enough for the Navy-- the Blue Angels canceled their July 4th show at the beach due to the coronavirus spread.

This is my conclusion. I had to visit my family doctor yesterday. He told me that some people in his extended family had contracted the virus. It had no effect on the young people-- zero symptoms or nearly so, but of course they could spread it to others. And then there's this:

I guess it's a good thing I don't get invited to college kids' parties anymore.

Correction-- The Blue Angels show was scheduled for the weekend following the July 4 weekend. It's still canceled.
