Antenna mounting Ideas

Antenna mounting Ideas
I bought a king Omnidirectional Antenna. I picked this over the jack antenna because I dint want to put in more holes in my roof. I planed on mounting it in the only open spot on my roof. Between the air conditioner and the maxx fan. I set it up there to do a test today. I did get a 18 stations. However I put it up on a pole 16' off the ground and got 45 stations. I like the idea of having it on the roof for convenience,But I do camp in some remote areas and would have better reception on a pole. Looking for ideas. I think the best set up would be on a bumper mounted pole that was hooked up all the time and yet could still extend in remote areas. problem is I cant figure a good way to do both those things . what have others come up with? Anyone have some pictures of there pole mounts?

I'm pretty sure I saw someone here with a fancy retractable pole setup.

If you are not already using it for bicycles, they make some nice mounts for pole that go in the 2" receiver hitch on the back of the trailer (or, could go into the tow vehicle hitch receiver after dropping the trailer). Hitch Receiver flag pole mounts at Amazon.

Harbor Freight makes a collapsable flag pole that might work.

I've done a lot of stuff with OTA, designing antennas etc.

I used to use a 4 bay antenna and it worked well but it took awhile to find stations as it wasn't omni-directional.

I've had a love-hate with King products, worked OK until they didn't.

My current antenna is an Antop. It's omni-directional but also much more forgiving for not having to be at the same elevation as the TV station without signal degradation.

By far the most important factor of OTA is elevation and the difference between rooftop and several feet higher is significant.

I've used 3 different setups to get pole mounted antennas higher than the roof top.

1. Weld a tube on top of the spare tire holder to act as a socket for a pole.

2. Bumper mounted sturdy bracket for larger diameter multiple tube. 12'

3. Same bracket and using the same flagpole that Jon mentions. 20'

So, different ways to do it, but higher is better.

Flag Pole Mount for antenna mast

Here's a link to the flag pole mount system I use:

https://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f...tml#post322006

It is basically a hitch receiver flag pole mount & some PVC pipe segments for the mast.

I attach a 1 1/4" PVC to the spare tire post or front jack upright and use an 18 ft. pool cleaning pole (Stowes to 6 ft.) with a Jack antenna head. On one end of the PVC I install a cap with drain holes and the other end I install a coupling. This lets it set parallel to the upright and attach with hose clamps.

Thanks for all the input I went with Jon idea and got the hitch mount flag pole holder . Installing it in hitch receiver it had a lot of play . I then come up with the idea installing with u bolts to frame. Its sturdy but not sure if i like this i might Just drill two holes into frame to bolt it down. The other thing i noticed as it will be the lowest thing sticking down in the back. I wonder if i have any clearance issues getting in remote spots. Its still work in progress
