Flat rate delivery charge to Sumas

If I read the delivery policy correctly, it’s $2500 US to any US delivery site from Sumas to Florida (for example).

Wondering why one would pay $2500 to pick up at Sumas rather than drive across into Chilliwack and pick for free?

If they had a criminal record and could not get into Canada…

I don't think US citizens can pick up at ETI due to Canadian Tax laws..

I haven't read their write-up but the wording might be a bit misleading.

The trailer is exported and Sumas is the first point that it's available to a US buyer not wanting to or able to enter Canada. I doubt that there's a $2500 delivery fee to Sumas. Probably shouldn't have even put "Sumas" in the write-up.

Nope. ETI has arranged for US buyers to come to Chilliwack and they will handle the import to US papers at no additional cost. Just got an email from Linda at ETI so stating.

That's how it worked out for us. We could view the trailer in Chilliwack but had to take delivery in Sumas at no extra charge. That was January 2023.

Another relatively recent and positive change by ETI. Whatever the impetus (it doesn't matter, IMO) there seem to be a number of welcome customer-friendly improvements going on up there these days.

Yes, That's how Linda explained it to us as well. When I asked about the Sumas pick up option, she confirmed that the $2500 flat rate delivery would apply - so we're planning on a pick-up in Chilliwack.

I believe they changed this policy over the summer. My wife and I picked up our 5.0 in Chilliwack on July 31st. We drove across Canada and brought the camper into the US at International Falls MN eight days later. ETI had all the necessary import paperwork ready, along with instructions on what we needed to present at the border. We had no problems at all…less than five minutes at customs.

Yup, gets me back to wondering if and why a Sumas pick up would be in the cards for anyone who doesn’t have felonies on their record.

One doesn't need a Felony record to be denied admission to Canada. A misdemeanor DUI can make one inadmissible, especially it it happened after 2018.

Well, in the past some folks have mentioned that they'd need to find a storage place in WA for umm, items that they couldn't bring into Canada.

And, as I understand it, a lot of folks don't have passports.

US citizen here. Just picked up our trailer in Chilliwack last Friday. Something must have changed. Escape Trailer are now subject to collect US Sales Tax. I wonder if this is related.

Did ETI collect sales/use tax for your home state? Their current policy states that they want to ensure that buyers pay required home state taxes within 30 days of taking possession of the trailer.

I don’t believe that ETI are subject to collecting taxes at this time, but they are mindful of pressure from several states to make efforts to facilitate the tax payments which will probably include ETI formally reporting sales to states with sales/use taxes for out of state/country purchases.

Don’t need a passport to go into Canada from the US border, just need your birth certificate.

I caught a load of sheet from the border officer for not having my birth certificate handy when I crossed.

Escape didn't collect it, but sent me an email asking me to upload confirmation that I have paid it (I am in WA state). The email from them states the following:

Escape has been growing considerably over the past number of years and as a result, we are now subject to collect US State Sales Taxes. US State Sales Taxes are complicated and we need your help so that we can expediently manage the state registration processes for Escape (the company, not your trailer).

That has changed. I'm picking up our new 23 in March next year, and indeed the charge is $2500 to pick up ANYWHERE in the US, including in Sumas. ETI assures me that they'll give me all the necessary paperwork and I won't have any trouble bringing it into the US myself. They say they've been offering this option for the past 6 months or more.

And the original point of this post was to realize that, yes; you can pay $2500 to have your new Escape delivered 3225 miles to Sanford, FL or $2500 to have it delivered 21 miles to Sumas, WA.

I would like to have been in the room when that policy was discussed.

Thinking that Bob’s Burgers is gonna see a drop in overnight stays.
