Just sayin'

After 8.5 years we are finally rated as a 'member' of the forum not a 'junior member'. A celebration is absolutely in order. Please lift your glass of choice in honour of this great achievement. Hope to see you all at the 2017 rally and do so in person.

Only 63 more posts (I think; double what you've done in the past 8.5 years), and you'll get to add "Senior Member" to your credentials. So get to posting!

hi Conuma

I'll help you increase your post count by asking a Vancouver Island question.
What is the earliest date you've camped on Vancouver Island when you hit the sweet spot and had decent weather (relatively warm weather and relatively low rain) and also avoided the summer holiday crowds ?

Thanks Larry

You are all sooo amazing. Thank you for the posts. Yes, we bring a lot of Escape experience to the table so I would be happy to share and know that we should post way more often.

Thanks for the 'start-up', Larry.

The earliest we have camped is March. Over the years we have decided it best to get plugged in at this time of year; however, we are also happy to just run the heater and propane to max and enjoy our wonderful provincial and regional parks. In the summer months we can certainly go 10-14 days and maybe longer if we conserve everything wisely. I have been told that I am must to frugal with the water and we often come home with lots. We have never run out of power, water or any of the things we have come to think of as necessities. We did not get any winterizing on our trailer so that is now limiting us to winter camping. Hind sight.... but I guess that means we just need to go south.

Rain Not sure what that is. The island is a wonderful place to live and camp. We have kept a journal of all our travels since we purchased our first Escape in 2008 so if anyone has questions we just may have answers. I only wished we had kept track since we started camping back in the early '90's.

This year we are avoiding the crowds by doing our 'big trip' in May/June including the Escape Rally in Osoyoos.

Fort Langley
Osoyoos
Kelowna
Armstrong
Shuswap
Nicola Lake
Whistler

Next year fingers crossed for x-Canada trip.

We purchased a 2016 Nissan Frontier last year. Much better than our old Mazda although we still tow our kayaks the same way.

Nice rig! I pull our 19 with a 14 Nissan Frontier and it's a good tow.

It is that. The Nissan Frontier is a great vehicle. We are loving it.

Keep in mind that there's a big FG rally in Winnipeg in Aug 2018 to celebrate Boler's 50th, you should try to make that.

We are escaping this cold winter next month planning to spend six weeks or so in Victoria and traveling the island, at least as far as Parksville, will be passing your door more or less no doubt.

We will look out for the Boler 50th August 2018. Thanks for the information.

Yes, we are about 45 minutes north of Victoria. The highway is a stone's throw from our home so you will certainly be passing right by our door.

You will love the island, Adrian.

We will certainly be keeping a look out for your 5th wheel in the neighbourhood as well. Will you be in BC long enough to come to the Escape rally in May?

We would love to go to the rally but perhaps next year. We want to have Escape do some mods, but we are coming without the trailer in Feb. to visit my sister. We usually go south for a couple of months but medical issues last year have made health insurance prohibitively expensive. We cannot really do two trips to BC in one year so 2018 will be the earliest to get to Osoyoos.

What mods are you getting done? We are always interested in how we can update our unit as well.

Rally wise, we may see you in 2018 then.

Primarily going for roof solar and inverter, going to check out Wendy and Lotar's when we go up to Parksville. They had Escape add it to their 17.
