just to be clear we have the Lagun and use a full size table. To convert to bed takes only a minute.
So those with Lagun mounts who convert into a bed, are you having to take off the table top to make into the bed platform or are you releasing a lever and dropping the entire arm/table (sim to the Springfield)?
Also, which model of Springfield is ETI installing? Looks like there are several choices? https://springfieldgrp.com/product-c...ble-pedestals/

Given the U-dinette requirement for the Lagun - for the 21C that makes it close to double the price of a Springfield. Trying to decide between the two options (cause I really dislike the double leg setup). Thanks!

The table comes off and mounting hardware self stores under table. After you do it a couple of times it’s less than 2 minute process. The leg room and ease of access for maintenance and variable positioning options are other benefits.

Watching the current video on table mounts, it really looks like none of them are ideal. Has anyone run across or used the ToughGrade Snap 2 linked below? Seems like a great option for a stable, yet easily lowered table. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07...N12ZQO1J&psc=1

I had the Springfield table with the delux slide in my 2016 real classic 21 which we sold and just picked up our new 2021 17B with the Lagan table. The real difference is the ease in putting the table down for bed conversion. With the Springfield, it’s a breeze - release the latches, just push the table down and latch the levers. The lagun not real easy. My wife couldn’t do it.. You have to basically disassemble the table, slide the parts on the table and then position the table on the positioning stops for sleeping. Setup remove the table prop against the rear window and install the vertical arm, then lift the table and put it on the vertical arm. This is the part my wife can’t do. I’m going back to the Springfield!

This is good to know for how fast and easy the bed conversion is. Thank you.

My wife and I have been debating the Springfield vs lagun for our upcoming 21NE and I've been going back and forth between wanting that lounge feeling in the dinette area by being able to remove the table. But since we plan on using the trailer for a lot of shorter weekend family trips with our 2 kids it could become just another chore to deal with that takes away from relaxing and enjoying camping.

Also the table would need to be moved back and forth from the back of the suv tow vehicle. More work and chance of damaging interior or table.

I think we will start with the Springfield and if we hate not being able to move the table we can always switch it out.

You can order the Springfield slide separately. Escape will install both if you have it shipped to them.

I have a 19’ so the Lagan seems to be a less than easy solution. There are so many options out there for the Springfield, I’m not sure which “slide” to get.
I won’t need the swivel but if it has to be, ok.

I love the Lagun. Some hate it. Personally I’d hate having a permanent pedestal in the middle of the dinette floor, but some folks love the Springfield. It all depends on what YOU want.

Lugun / Springfield

Hi jerbonez,

I don't know the floor space you have at the dinette in a 19' Escape. I have a 21ne and don't know if they are one and the same.

Anyway I took it upon myself to take a couple of photos for you to see. When I ordered my 21NE this past year, I liked the Lagun system but bought the Springfield with my trailer. The base plate the mounts to the flood is 12" in across and when it is collapsed it stands 13 1/4 " tall. My problem was that with the table that came with the 21ne, was a large table and you had to pretty much move it to one side to get on the seat at the bathroom side. It also made it tough to get at things under the benches and a stretch to get at some of the overhead areas. I ended up making me a smaller table that could still be made into a bed if needed. But I ended up changing out the Springfield for a lagun.

You can see what I did on my thread here " My Escape to Margaritaville mods and alterations" for more photos. I added two lagun mounts. One at the back of the dinette area and one on the side. It works for me.

Bottom line........ it's all about what works for you......

Enjoy the pics.....
Cheers to ya....... and Happy Trails....... Jack

OUR VOTE: LAGUN
When we ordered our 21NE in Jan2020, we were newbies to ETI and to RV camping. The Lagun and Springfield were not available as an option.

But a couple of camping trips with an 80 lb Shephusky certainly identified a need to overcome the unwieldy, intrusive, double pedestal, awkward sliding, oversized contraption that our rig came with. Especially when the 80 lb fur-ball decided he wanted to snuggle up with us in bed rather than attempt to wrap his girth around the 2 posts under the aforementioned contraption.

This Forum quickly suggested the aftermarket option - a Lagun (appropriately named I might add) that gave our Shephusky a quiet bayou of his own. I made a smaller table top suitable for my wife and I, which swings/rotates on the Lagun's axis providing easy adjustments around the U shaped dinette.

Obviously if you need to bed down kids or the occasional guest, a larger (or the original) table top could be used atop the Lagun.

We liked the stability of the Springfield and easy of moving it to sleep/travel mode but we went with the Lagun for a few reasons.

We felt we would rarely make the dinette into a bed and liked the way we could swing it completely out of the way to put on shoes or just relax. The added benefit is my happy feet have lots of room to fidget.

Outside of foot space I would say the biggest difference is the stability. It's not to say the Lagun is unstable but it is not rock solid. Plus, when moving to a new campsite it is not as simple as pushing the table downward.

That's the great thing about Escape. Choices, Choices, Choices and more Choices.

I cannot comment on the Lagun. I considered it when upgrading from the standard fixed dual leg setup in our used 19, but the need to quickly convert to a bed steered us to the springfield. I can tell you that after spending a season with the original dual legs and their base mounts at our feet the increased space that the single springfield leg gives is great.

One thing though. Do you have the U-shaped or standard dinette in your 19? With the U shaped in the 19 I can see where even the single pedestal of the springfield would consume most of the area under the table and make the Lagun almost a necessity. We have the standard dinette so there is more floor space available and although we had foot space issues with the original dual leg, the single leg springfield cured most of that. Converting the dinette to a bed is so amazingly simple now, that dual leg setup just flat out sucks....

We used the stock slide and just offset it a few inches to give more room on the DS of the dinette. I would like a slide with a bit more travel, but I haven't put any effort into looking for one yet. I have too many projects both on the trailer and on other things, so that one will have to wait.

My brother just bought the Springfield for his 19 from Escape and at a good price too. I bought a linear rail set for $80 CAD to build the slider out of. It will work great, I am sure, and be WAY smoother and tougher than the factory plastic one.

Hi Jim, I'm thinking that's where I'm headed. My plastic track seems to be more sloppy now.

Well, we will be doing it fairly soon. I have an easy mounting idea in my head (and on a drawing) using aluminum angle.

The info would sure be welcome here if you don't mind posting when you get it done.

Jim & Ron, installing the linear rail sounds interesting. Hope you'll post your mods.
