What lurks below those seats and beds?

Keep in mind that some of the locations are determined by things like accessibility to controls or for weight distribution purposes.

Mike, Just as Dave said, the valves are very accessible. They can be reached by lifting the hinged bed platform or by reaching in from the standard cupboard door at the foot of the bed. I have to confess though, I turned the valves “On” in April 2016 and have never turned them off. We are lucky not to winterize in the Bay Area of Ca.

Looks like they changed the position of the surge protector. Ours is tight up against back corner just below the removable power cord plug in box. I could use that space between batteries and water heater for storage but have not needed it as yet. We find there's much more storage than the old five and like Alf said more accessible with outside hatch.

Just to give an example of my thought processes, if someone wanted to have their bed up front in a 17 or 19, and if there's some gadget (or even open storage space) underneath that, maybe it becomes more beneficial to ask for a side door on the seat cabinet or an exterior hatch... but it's hard to know ahead of time.

Hi: Mike G... I think there's a troll lurking under the bed in our 5.0TA. Most likely a thin one but related to Rip V. Winkle. I get a better sleep in the trailer than I do at home. Being away from the "Honey do" list and having no "Round to it's" could be somewhat to blame. Alf

On Escape's website are .pdf files showing measurements as well as location of various standard as well as optional items, including outlets both12v and 120v and readouts for solar and ems. This may help those who have never been inside an Escape.

Jim, I checked the ETI website before posting this thread. The pdf files don't appear to show stuff like converter, water tank, water heater, etc. Which is why I asked. For example, here's the 17B schematic: escapetrailer.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/17BFloorplanwithMeasurements.pdf I can see the converter under the rear dinette in one of the photos, though. And I gather that the black tank will take up much of the driver's side front dinette bench. Is there another schematic I missed seeing?

No. While there are helpful "standard locations" drawings for the 19', 21', and 5.0TA which show electrical equipment (including the converter location), they don't show other components under the seats and beds... and there isn't a corresponding drawing for the 17'.

Alf did you find when you got the TA you kept trying to step down from the dinette area even though there's no step? We certainly did until we got used to the flat floor

Well it depends which part of the world u live in:
In the SW USA, rattlesnakes
Florida, small gators
Midwest, cottonmouths

The lids on the storage under the table benches, are to narrow.
Also the frame work under the seats takes up valuable space.
The benches are constructed of 3/8” plywood.
I removed the bench tops and constructed new benches from 5/8” plywood.
With this option, the support frames are not required.
I also made the portion of the cover that lifts 16 1/2” wide.
I can now use Rubbermaid storage bins in the space.
This is an advantage on the side with the electrical panel, I worry about damage and shorting of the wires.

If you look at the exterior photos on the website, the power entry point is where the converter and EMS are installed. The louvered round vent is where the battery is located if inside. The water heater is located behind the square metal panel with vents on one portion. The furnace location is the only round open vent on the trailer.

I'm reviving an old thread to ask another question. My 2012 19' has the electrical stuff under the driver's side front dinette seat, but there is also a plywood surface overtop of something. What is that 'something' under the plywood? I'm trying to decide if I can put a couple of screws into that wood without damaging whatever is underneath. Does this have something to do with the toilet?




BTW, the front face of that boxed-in area is not plywood but appears to be a piece of the thin cabinet-facing stuff; it has the same oak finish as my cabinetry.

My 2021 E19 has the black tank there, so screws no longer than the ply is thick. Probably 1/2”, but I’d recommend measuring first.

Screws are not advised. Adhesives, double sided tape, something like that is advised.

Screws are fine as long as you test how much they protrude past whatever you're screwing down.
