Windows pre 2017 changes
Considering Escapes and searching for info right now. What windows open and which ones are fixed in the 19's from 2016 and earlier. The nose and rear windows appear to be fixed in pics I've seen. Do all side windows open? Thanks for you help.

Your take on this is correct. The four in the corners all open for good ventilation, and you could get venting windows in the bath and kitchen if desired.
In our 2008 model, we got one of the last front operating windows, and the bath window was not even and option.

Why did they stop offerring front opening window? Leaks? Can an opening window still be put in on 2009 and later? It sounds like there's good ventilation with just the four corners opening, right? Thanks for your reply.

They could no longer get it from the suppliers. To be honest, we hardly ever opened it anyway. Actually, it was rare to have all four corners open at the same time, as we usually cracked select windows, and turned the ceiling Maax fan on as high as needed to draw air through, which was usually more effective that a natural flow of air.

Not true, the rear window in the 2nd generation models with the new awning style flush mount from late 2016 forward have opening windows in the rear which is a split window, each half opens and all the rest of the windows open, even the optional bath and kitchen. None of the Escapes have an opening front window, some just have a fixed pane with a travel awning for protection.

Sorry, on edit I see you were asking about early 2016, my comment applies to later 2016 and afterwards. Earlier models do not have opening rear nor front windows..

Thanks for clarification but it does sound like later 2016 and all 2017 have windows in the nose and tail that open. Is that correct or is it just the rear that opens. Thanks

The front window on my 2008 17B opens and we use it a lot as it is protected from rain by the rock guard.
We've not experienced any leaks, however the window/rock guard was discontinued by the manufacturer shortly after we got our trailer.

Reace was quoted as saying that, during travel, the sliding window could not be guaranteed to be air and dust-tight. So, his std. answer to the question of "openable front window?" is "No" (at least on the Classic Escapes).

Or as we also say in the Midwest - raining cats and dogs. The kind where you have to creep onto the side of the highway to stop because even with the wipers on you can't see 3 feet in front of you. Or like we have had here, 7" of rain in an hour.
I'm sure IowaDave had some rain fables he can share....

Not sure how far back you are looking. 2010 has all sliders at the corners and fixed front and rear. Fixed kitchen window was an option and don't believe bath window was at the time. I've recently added the bath window myself and I confirmed with Tammy that the fixed kitchen window can be replaced in-kind (same size opening) with the awning style opening window. If you are enterprising enough any of the windows can be replaced. Have never had a problem with adequate ventilation with MaxxFan.

The opening bath window came out in 2012, I had the first one I think. Also an awning kitchen window and sliders on the sides except for the rear driver Escape window and front fixed window.

Yes, good catch. Missed the emergency escape window at the rear drivers side that is awning type.
