You could do a screen capture and post that.

Perhaps we'll be able to see through the new frosted fronts - or see just enough to note such things? I'll find out 10/18.

There we go. Scroll down to see the dish mod. While on the subject of space use, we really like the custom cutting board you see in the first photo. Creates significant increase in kitchen prep space. There are four blocks glued to the underside to keep the board from moving. It is sized such that it just fits upright in the cabinet below the sink.

After looking at other mods including these, I'm wondering how you avoided drilling screw holes through the walls when the walls or shelves being drilled seem to have electric wires within those walls? I don't think the schematic details where those cables/wires are. Or do they?

the ubiquitous pool noodle (smaller diameter) or pipe insulation goes between the dishes on the rack and the door. my dishes are in the microwave cabinet above the refrigerator. occasionally the noodle will fall out when i open the door but never dishes.

Mine was suspended by drilling through the bottom of the cabinet above. Didn't touch the outside walls.

Attaching a shelf to the bottom of that cabinet is a good idea.
I'm thinking of doing something similar with a wire shelf held upright with Command hooks. Time enough to decide after picking up Sojourner next month.

Where would you mount the command hooks? Can't use the wall unless it is a non porous rigid surface, and I am not sure I would trust them hanging from above given the consequences if one lets go. Also items would fly off open shelves at least in our 17b, hence the front bars protecting each of the shelves in our setup. Like the wire idea however.

I was thinking that it might be possible to attach a unit above the stove to the side of the unit above the sink, then secure with command hooks at the top. That may or may not be feasible, and I'll have a much better idea about that when I actually take possession of my 17B next month. Lots more pressing issues to deal with before I tackle this one.

I'd wait to get settled in before making plans. You might find that you need relief from the natural clutter of occupying a small space, without adding it to the walls.

I suspect that you're right about that, Glenn. I may prefer nothing at all on the walls, particularly since I can store items less often used in my tow vehicle. Having finally gotten rid of a house filled with stuff I didn't really need, a small space with clean surfaces sounds just about right.

Getting rid of clutter is important to us as well and that means preserving walk way space (shoes in shoe rack) and horizontal surfaces for meal prep, meal consumption and general circulation and staging area (on top of the closet). Having the dishes on the wall doubles the space we can use for food storage in the cabinets.
Advising a newbie to spend some time in the new space first before making any mods is wise IMO

All our dishes, cups, bowls, and stuff like that goes in the top cabinet over the galley. Pots in places down low, and cutlery and cooking utensils in drawers below.

My comments have been pertinent to the 17' trailer. I expect larger trailers have standard storage options not available in the smaller trailers.

If you have been following this forum, you would know there is nothing standard about my cabinetry.
I was just commenting on how we store our dishes and cookware just as others have done.

Even in the 19 , have had to open wasted space and make more storage . Make mods to have more counter space etc. Camping with a 21 there is a lot more storage and counters , which is about the same as a 5 th. Which we don’t have . So you have to be really inventive in figuring what to do and what goes where ! Pat

We keep all of the dishes and cooking goodies for our 19 in the big cabinet under the sink. That leaves the upper cabinet and the very bottom cabinet for food. I bought a stack of two different size boxes from IKEA and they work great. The larger is the Variera, item # 301.550.19 and the smaller is the Grundvattnet, item # 103.142.98. Attached are pictures of the cupboard stuffed (everything stays in place!), with the first row of goodies pulled out, and what the boxes look like.

Wire dish rack
I use a wire dish rack. Hard to find but works perfect in cubby above sink! I’ll try to get a photo of ours.
See attachment.

I put cork "hot pads" between breakables, wrap my favourite mugs in tea towels, stuff a throw pillow in the front of the cabinet (I use the upper cabinet, over the sink), keeps everything in place and no breakage. When camped, all those things are put to use in other areas. Hope this gives you some good ideas.
