Front window on a 5.0?

Just another one of my crazy ideas...

Anyone ever put a window on the front of their 5.of the front side of the trailer, either to check on a noise or just enjoy the view. And added natural light is always a bonus.

Seems like this might be a nonstarter for structural reasons.

BTW, has anyone ever been kicked off of this forum for contributing too much nonsense?

I would guess you are right on structural reasons...there is not much there and definitely not beefed up for a window. Also I think you would want to have a cover for travel to avoid damage and water intrusion. How do you open and close the cover? I think you will find the windows on the side and the overhead hatch are plenty.

For many years, Scamp had a non-opening front window option on their 5er. Historically they found, many leaked over time. That's a lot of pressure driving rain on that window when under tow. Seems like every time I see an older Scamp in a campground, the front cover over that window is never up or off. Scamp has now actually changed the molds for the 5er and that window is no longer even an option.

What does Scamp have to do with Escape? Not much, but I honestly don't see ETI ever having a front window as an option on the 5.0.

Nah, we won't kick you off. You aren't asking nonsense questions at all.

It would be quite doable using a good quality marine hatch. I've had marine hatches and windows facing forward that have withstood 50+ knots of wind and walls of green water slamming down the deck. Stress on "good quality."

Such a hatch has a strong frame and I'd expect to install a perimeter of 1x2 of wood around the new opening. The installation would likely result in an increase in strength to the area.

As far as nonsense goes, no ones mentioned poutine for ages.
