Are you talking about raising both the bench and the floor 6" or only the floor?

I'd suggest doing a down and dirty mock-up first. Tall guy might not like the knee in chest feeling with only the floor raised.

I would do the benches as well similar to what Chuck did. I'm looking for the dimensions of what he used. It looks 1 x 6 KDFir to me.

I think it was 1x6 ( true 5 1/5") sitting on top of the Escape bench top cleats on walls. From there I worked with framing to height. I got a sheet of Western Oak at Windsor Plywood to replicate factory boxes along with trim from Escape. All pine with aluminum to keep down weight. I think I did use 5/8 plywood on floor? I framed opening under floor to accept a boot tray I got from Costco. Use it for shower sandals and slippers. Electrical box wiring length for most part was able to allow shifting to new floor height and above black tank.

That really is the issue. I'm average height, raised the bench 3" and really increased the frequency of wacking my head on the end of the overhead cabinet.

That's good information Ron. I like the idea of extra storage (is there ever enough) but at not at the cost of a bruised melon!
