Looks good Mark&Elaine, I purchased the same table base but made my own table out of some scrap plywood... I used two 8 inch "L" brackets in the back and screwed the reinforcement board to the new raised floor.

When the bed is made, the table will store under the bed! At least according to the master plan! I have the table Escape provided.....it might get cut into 3 pieces..
Hi Mark - That's exactly what I was thinking for the bed. Just a couple of pieces of plywood cut to the right length and width to store in the bench (we also ordered the U-shaped dinette). Or, as you pointed out, I may cut apart the ETI provide table top to be the storable bed supports.
I haven't decided whether to order the teak foldable table top or attempt to make my own. I'll have time to decide when we return home after picking up our 5.0TA (July 19). It might be better to wait anyway so we can get a feel for what size table will work best. We also ordered two counter extensions for the dinette area, so I'm thinking a fairly small table for use with the Lagun table mount.
Happy travels,
John

lagun table

I am still on subject I believe and I just want to get this right. I purchased a lagun table bracket and want to mount it. I am having a 4" - 3/16th "L" metal bracket made for backside of bench. To mount this to the floor and bench #12x 1 1/14inch screws, maybe 6 on bottom and 6 on bench side of bracket- does this sound sufficient? I bought a steel L channel 3/4 inch 4 foot long to be anchored to bench at top inside edge. I know others have used bolts to anchor their brackets down but I have the spray foam bottom of trailer and don't really want to tear that up to access the area under the trailer. That would also mean going through the fiberglass I assume? Please help with suggestions I am a newbie with a nice 5th wheel I really want to get this right.

I used screws, 3/4 or maybe 7/8" long into floor. Nothing came thru the bottom. It's held up thru a couple weeks of camping. Break it down at night for a bed and set it up in morning. Judy can handle it herself while I take my buddy for his morning walk

Cliff,
Fine looking table, happy, happy, dog... and you... look... comfy. I love all the open room under the table! But where are the cushions along the back wall? What did you do with those?

Left it home, we make up the bed for my dog, he can't get up in the loft, he's getting old and has hip problems, so he sleeps on dinette changed to bed. We decided to leave cushion home to give him more room, and keep cushion clean. It works OK for now.

Cliff, Just curious, but does your dog's respiration ever set off the propane detector lying that close? Seems like others on the forum have mentioned that.

Thank you Cliff for the input. Hoping my 1 1/4 inch screws will be OK since there is a 1 inch space between floor (plywood) and fiberglass. Or so I have been told.

How wide is the angle iron, used in the application - 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch? Maybe bigger?

It went off twice, but I think he bumped the test button, not from breathing on it. Pretty funny. First time he jumped, second time he just lifted his head and looked really annoyed. The open space under the table really works well if you have a larger critter with you, one of the reasons I originally looked at the Lagun setup.

I used shorter screws because I read that floor was 1/2 ", linoleum maybe 1/8, bracket 1/16" don't really need longer than 3/4 . As long as there is a 1" space under floor longer won't hurt, if not you might have a problem. On the wall side I reinforced with plywood and just made sure screws didn't come thru. I didn't reinforce top with angle iron just braced it with furing strip from back to front at top. You can see it in pic.

Perhaps there is some confusion about floor construction in different areas of the trailer.
  1. In the sleeping loft of a 5.0TA, there is a layer of insulating foam between the plywood floor and the fiberglass bottom of the trailer's shell... so there's no empty space, but the total thickness is over an inch.
  2. At the outer edges of the floor, the fiberglass shell dips down, so there is a variable space between the plywood floor and the fiberglass.
  3. Everywhere else, the bottom of the fiberglass shell is flat, and the plywood is laying directly on top of it; this is the entire area between the main frame rails in all except the loft of the 5.0TA.
  4. Some individual trailers have a built-up floor in the dinette area, to raise the seating. This is not the same as the step up built into the rear floor area of all 13', 15', 17', 5.0, 19' models and the new style of 21' and 5.0TA; that step is in both the visible floor and the fiberglass shell under it.
In the central floor area of the dinette of a 5.0TA the plywood should be directly on the fiberglass. There is no floor framing to create a space between the floor and shell, unless this specific unit has a raised dinette floor.

We found that using the side and corner cushions with this table set up you have lots of seating options. (As long as we can work around the dog). No back cushion gives a little more swing to the table.

lagun table

One more technical question. How critical to the support of the arm is the steel L channel across the top of the back bench? Thinking of leaving that off and wanted input. Had bracket made today and it is hefty.

Will the Lagun support a full sized table in a U-shaped dinette?

I ordered a couple of galvanized Simpson Strong-Tie Heavy Duty Shelf Brackets from Amazon for about $8 each. They're backordered.

I plan to put the short side on the floor. Hopefully I can bolt through the mount right into the brackets, maybe with some spacers.
