I hate stepping over the hitch too, gives me the heebie jeebies, but I would have it face the passenger side as our spirit level is fixed to that side. Might allow less yelling between my wife and I as we get the trailer levelled.

I had spirit levels added to the front driver side and to the front side, driver side.

Just take your time. Here's the video:

This is a pretty easy change but it did not work for my F150. 2018 and later Ford thickened / rounded out the tailgate by about 2 inches.
My truck and trailer were not level when I did mine but the tailgate still rubbed against the jack so I changed it back. Also on my set up I would have had to move the propane tanks back a little as it would have been very hard to get the cover off as it was right up against the jack.
Having said that it was an easy fix if it works for you. I might get an extender from Fastway eventually.

Thanks for the lead on this jack. Decided on it based on the 8” drop leg, quiet operation, decent speed and overall construction. Bright LED light and 5 year warranty don’t hurt either. Etrailer has a nice page of specs on the Bulldog including speed. It extends 6” with 1000# load in 28 sec and retracts in 24.5 seconds. For comparison the Lippert that Escape uses with the same load is 41 secs extend, 40 secs retract.
