Anyone who has to reach underneath the propane cover to detach and reattach the tie down bungie knows how awkward that can be. Furthermore, I had the misfortune to lose the top of the cover in a wind storm.
My solution was to use a simple 1Ē tie down strap wrapped around a support underneath the tank. I used a length long enough so that I only have to loosen-off the strap and slip it over the side to remove the cover. Much easier and much faster. And I am not going to lose the top of the cover again.
I followed the lead of someone on this forum and used cable ties to secure the top. Drill a pair of holes at each hinge point and thread in the cable tie. And, after messing with the bungie cord underneath I realized it wasn't needed and now leave it off.
