Quick fix for strap on manual awning
I thought I would share a quick mod for the awning strap on the manual awning. I hated how it flapped around when driving down the road, and didn't want it to damage the awning or wear on the fiberglass.
I got a button snap kit from my local hardware store, drilled a hole above the door grab handle (where I presume there is a stud) and punched the female end of the snap onto the strap. It should hold pretty well, although with the quarantine lockdown I won't be able to take it out for a while!

I just wind up my awning so that there is only an inch or two of strap sticking out and it doesn't flap at all.

Hi Dave I don’t have a problem either with the strap on our manual awning .Maybe his strap is longer and that would be a solution . I do use snaps and like them around the trailer . Just a couple to show awning wand and bath door , doggie gate . Pat

Mine is a late 2019 (Picked up in December). Not sure if they made the straps longer or not, but I couldn't figure a way to get it rolled up tighter. Pat you had a few good ideas there, I have a whole pack of these snaps now so I can put them to good use!

Once the awning starts rolling up, move the strap from side to side as it rolls in and you can shorten it as much as you need to.

I also do that to ensure that the strap cannot flap around and hit the lever that opens the awning, and so that it positions it near the step so I can reach it.

Hi Pat. I am doing well considering the whole world has gone into crisis mode these past few months. I had planned a busy schedule for this year (Boston Marathon, backpacking, Escape-ing, back country paddling, etc), but nearly every one of my plans is in danger of not happening. I am afraid to even look at how my retirement investments are doing. At least my family and I are still healthy and I am still working! Looking forward to the days when life starts to feel normal again.
For the time being I am happy to be here commenting on how to rewind the pull strap on my awning.
