TV mounted in dinette on 5.0?

Hello, Escape shows the only option for mounting the TV wiring up near the bed. We don't like to watch TV there and would like to have it mounted on the wall by the dinette, preferably in a way to swing it out into the walkway between the fridge and stove. Has anyone done this? Will Escape put the wiring in that area, rather than by the bed? Thanks for any help!

Sept ‘21 E19 build. Escape did that for me, but that was the hardest off list mod to get accommodated. I’m not sure if they would still do it. Check with your configuration specialist.

In the last couple of days a picture was posted on one of the Escape Facebook pages showing a TV mounted on the fridge wall in the dinette. We sit in that spot, so it would be in the way. We’ve had a 24” TV that we felt was too big to go in that area, so back to Best Buy it went, and was using a 21” computer monitor that stored easily in it’s shipping box. We now use a 16” Samsung laptop with a high end MOLED screen to watch movies or stream news. It works great.

We had the TV wiring put in the dining area when we ordered our trailer in 2019 and there was no hassle. We did not order a TV, we just put in the wiring in case we decided to get a TV or if we wanted to use the coaxial connection for something else.

I just picked up my 5.0 a few weeks ago, the standard TV with coaxial spot is in the bed area. I asked that it instead be installed in the dinette area. No problem, the coax and the 120v outlet are beside the upper cabinet wall. So they should still do it for you.

Any chance you can share pictures? I had sent this question to ETI and it took a while to get a response, but she said they only install it by the bed. We really don't want a tv near the bed.

I mounted a TV support on the fridge wall at the dinette in addition to the one by the bed. I have used it once in over 5 years and lots of time in the trailer, but who knows what the future brings.

This is a picture if where they placed our tv coax/120v outlets. I did have to specifically ask for this location. We completed our build sheet in December, I wonder if this limitation is linked to Escape’s recent shift from the “Easter egg list” of options to the more standardized option list. *although I would think more than a few people would want a Tv connection in the dining area, so still worth asking Escape again.

So I got an answer from ETI and it sucks. They no longer offer it because, apparently, not enough people wanted the option. That combines with other factors, like how difficult it is to mod. The weird thing is, it seems like a much, much shorter run from passenger side exterior hookup to the passenger side cabinet near the fridge than going all the way over to the bed area.
Oh, well.

On a side note, do I understand correctly that you can use the cable hook up for an exterior cell phone booster antenna?

If it were me, I would get an auxiliary 12v outlet and coaxial hookup, as most RV tv's are DC these days anyway

I plan to do that, but they won't move the coax to the dinette area anymore, which is frustrating.

It is really easy to add the cable outlet and a 120V outlet to where you want the stuff for the TV. You just have to run the cables up the corner and into the cabinet.

The bed is not the only location to be for watching tv mounted in the “standard” location. I’m sitting in the dinette area and this is my tv view.

That is a 24” tv; my current mount will accommodate a 27” in that location & I have another mount that will accommodate somewhat larger (maybe 32”).

Yeah, I'm not a fan of having the hardware there, or having to look that far to watch a small screen.

This mount works great. Has two mount bases, so you can move the arm and TV front and rear in the trailer any time you like.

I did install a TV mount in the dinette area on the wall beside the fridge. Escape strengthened that wall (approx $100) and I purchased a removable swivel mount (readyamerica p/n MRV-3510). The TV slides off the mount and I store it on the bed when travelling. Power plug (110 volt) is already there so all I had to do was have escape add the cable TV plug. If you dont have escape beef up the wall you need to pull the fridge and do it yourself. The wall wont hold a TV otherwise.
