Aftermarket Wiring in a EMS/Surge Protector

Hello all,

A little help, please. I was reading the manual to install a EMS-HW30C

On page 5, Step #4 Remove lid from transfer box, disconnect and remove the output cable. Seems to refer to an RV with a built in Gen set, is that correct?

I plan to mount the EMS-HW30C between the shore power connector in the wall of the trailer and the converter. In line with the orange wire on the inside photo of the wiring. Should i put it close to the inlet or near the converter?
