The 17' has a different lower intake grill and will not be part of this.

Pat and Linda have a 2013 Escape 19, but their drain hole is close to the vent and there appears to be a seam that should keep water away from the interior and allow it to escape before doing any harm.

There is no issues with the old style lower intake grill that you have. It's only the new style on the 19, 21 and 5.0

I do not know about your wall having the foam, you may want to check with Escape about sealing the foam along the wall.

Jim

You are just adding more confusion with your guessing and patch fixes. Please read post 36. Just tape up the grill around the outside until you understand the problem.

Yes I agree, we both can be guessing. I'm just going to wait until Osoyoos for any confirmation.

Thanks Tom . But remember when we all were doing refrigerator fixes ? It kind of bothered me , the foam . I really don't want to remove it now . I think I will get some of the rubber sealing tape , can't remember the name , and seal over the front and the sides where the wood is . I did put a finish on the exposed wood in the cavity before I reinstalled the refrigerator . I should of done the lower exposed wood . Pat

I think the butyl tape would be a more appropriate and longer lasting fix, Jim. Certainly, much easier to apply and get full coverage after it squeezes out and gets trimmed off.

I think butyl is intended for use between two objects with the excess squeezed out. I would think that ETI would know what product was most appropriate for the application.

Now that I am thinking about the butyl , you are right it goes between 2 objects . It would also attract lots of dirt I would think . Pat

The photos in the instructions ETI sent make it look like a relatively simple fix on a relatively nice flat surface. Our situation seems a bit more challenging. We have about a 3/4" drop from the frame ledge down to the shelf area. Some of the foam did push out differing amounts in various places along the interface, but then someone did a halfhearted job of trying to smear a silicone-looking sealant over the top of the foam, but didn't bother to cover all the protruding foam. So now we have foam poking out through smeared silicone behind a 3/4" ledge (the camera angle is from back inside the opening, sorry the photo is a bit fuzzy). Is everyone else facing a similar situation? I'm going to wait for a nice warm day and some new sharp safety razor blades before I try to tackle this one.

Looks the same. Using a puddy knife it comes out pretty easy.
