to be fair, thats more of an issue with a car where there's grounded chassis metal everywhere in the engine compartment. on an RV, there's just not that much grounded metal.
I'd say it's not a matter of fairness but of best practices. Do whatever you're comfortable with. My advice to electrical newbies is still; disconnect the ground first.
OK, I think it's fixed. I've been testing it, and appears working properly. many thanks for all the great replies. without this forum, would have been much harder task, maybe would have had to take it in haha, saved more than a few bucks. plus very educational. cheers
