the plugin cigar lighter volt display would do the same thing with no wiring.

you can only rely on that 12.2 or 12.6 or whatever when there's no load, and no charging, so the battery is at rest. after charging it takes a efw hours of 'rest' before the battery settles on the charge state voltage. its also modified by temperature, going down a few 10ths of a volt when cold, and up when very warm. stuff is typically specified at 68F or 77F (20C or 25C)

Once you know that the battery needs to rest after a charge, and that it should have no load on it to get close to its state of charge, one of these is sufficient, unless you need to worry more.

I should have my Victron 712 by the end of this week. I'm looking at installing it above the dinette between the cabinet and the galley divider where I saw a pic of it there from someone here.

In the rear corner passenger side of the dinette is a cover with what looks to be a single screw. If I take this off can I run the wire up behind it?

I believe someone here did it that way. Any problems?

If you order the Hatch kit be prepared to be charged for it in advance. I Just got notice that my account had been charged for the conversion kit. That's a first for me. Charging for a product 2 months before shipping. I may cancel it. Haven't decided yet.

Edit: Just got reply from them that they do not save credit card info and that's the reason for the advance charge. I guess I'll be OK with that.

I didn't see a manual that could be downloaded from their site. Could be there and I just didn't see it. Anyone know where the manual could be found? Like to read the install instructions.

Ordered it anyway. Going to be awhile before I get it.
I installed 2 in my Honda 2000’s for emergency back up at home. Not difficult but a bit fiddley here in Canada since our Hondas have a cold weather kit installed as standard. Were it not for having to work around that it was very straight forward.
Note that you lose about 10%+ available power on LP over gas, but runs much cleaner.

Haven’t ordered mine yet but I’ve been picking up a lot of nickel cans and bottles and I am getting there. Being able to use propane or gasoline is a positive for me. At home the single unit portability (no tank to move with the generator) of gasoline is appealing. For traveling (camping) the propane looks like the way to go.
Believe I am going solar at the house. My brother is about under contract and I’m about to call my provider for the legwork. My brother says 5 1/2 year payback for him.
Energy, wish I had more, personally that is.
