Bikes and rear receiver weight

With e-bikes you really get what you pay for. The inexpensive models often have cheap motors and a battery that is only about half as powerful as the premium brands. Propella was rated 60 out of 100 and not recommended by Consumer Reports. A friend almost burned his garage down when his inexpensive bike battery caught fire while being recharged. I would not charge an inexpensive bike battery inside the house or garage. Anyone new to e-bikes should research reviews before deciding on which one to buy. My wife and I bought Haibikes, expensive yes, but troube free and the batteries are still strong after 7 years.

I reinforced my reciever by bolting a steel plate at each cross member where the tube was welded . I let the steel stick out far enough to add a u bolt to tie down the bicycle rack and keep it from moving I also added bolts to the folding plates on the bike rack it self to further stabilize it . Seems rock solid , only time will tell
