I had a similar problem when we picked up our 5.0 a few years ago. Once the tank is empty, take a garden hose with a small spray handle and stick it in pointing to the black valve/pipe and give it a good long spray, opening and closing the valve handle several times. This did the trick for us, likely a little debris in the tank from construction that was hanging up around the gate valve and keeping it from fully closing and sealing. Others have also had some success with spraying a dry silicon lube on the valve. Not always a surefire solution but worth a try.
