Sure, but given that black waste tank sensors routine clog and so tank level readings are often not reliable, I don't think that an occasional high tank level is an unreasonable thing to expect.

Yes, the old buried uncapped vent wasn't desirable but in the 4 years we had one it was never an issue. If it was I'd have installed a cheater vent.

I think that this is a ridiculous situation. We tend to dump when we can and not depend on finding a dump station when the tanks almost full.
But we have been blindsided a couple of times. Dumps not open because it was too early in the season etc. A situation where black tank contents can back up into the shower drain would be completely unacceptable to me. Boats vent their holding tanks through a vent usually high on the hull. I'd rather have that than the current situation. Glad that I can count 2 vent caps on my new 21.

It is so easy to look down. What do you see? No sensors needed for black.

That sounds like a voice of experience! Is there a story to tell? Like how you got it back out?

Whoa, what's this? Pop up ad for Oliver. Smart move on their part, put the ad in front of people already interested in f.g. trailers.
They make some interesting claims, guess I'll have to go to their website and check it out.

The RV had the same toilet setup where the toilet drain goes straight down to the black tank so I knew the flashlight had to be straight down.
I had one of those devices used to pick up trash. You squeeze the handle and the jaws close. Put my rubber gloves on the went fishing for the small flashlight.
Gross , but it worked.
After throwing all of the tools/light away, I did what smart people do and tied a substantial loop on a new flashlight. The loop gets securely attached to my wrist.
Some mistakes I only make once.

Found out my toilet brush was really a 2 piece unit that hard way, like you I now have a long loop on it's one piece replacement.
Made an oversize pair of wooden tweezers to go fishin for it.
