Changing awning wind detector batteries

I want to change the batteries in the wind sensor and looked at a couple youtube videos - easy enough. BUT.. I can not get the compartment lid off. Tried the press in and push - no luck. Tried giving the right side a thump - no luck! I don't want to break it by hitting it too hard. Help!! 😀

There is a good YouTube video that shows you how to get the cover off to change batteries. I had to do that last Winter in the cold. As best I can recall, I used the "thump" method on the right side and the cover slid to the left.

I just changed mine. I too had difficulty getting the lid off. Tryied prying a bit on the right, but no luck. Then tried prying on the left side and next thing you know it came off, but for the life of me I can't be sure what actually worked. Maybe I thumped a bit too, but it did lift off on the left side, left side as you are looking out from the trailer.

It takes a decent thump on the right side to get it to move to the left and off.
