gelcoat repair continued

so, we had nice thread going, maybe too much fun, so I guess the administrator closed it?

still have question about how much gelcoat to buy. I contacted ETI and still getting info, but 1st communication was they sell 1/2 pint $35CAD. 1/2 pint is 8 oz, and seems perfect for small repair, but seems like I would need maybe a quart for my job. I'll post pics again so you can see area to repair, not a small scratch. any and all comments welcomed. cheers

What is going on? Admin please get this fixed. There was absolutely no reason for the other thread to be closed.

Charles, read post #43 of the closed thread.

I know that I'm only basing my comments on what I can see in photos but I think that you're overestimating how much gel coat you'd need.

A quart is a lot of gelcoat. Some waste allowance for first time users maybe but still a lot of gelcoat.

thanks Ron, always good answers, so you think maybe two 1/2 pints would be plenty? cheers

Barring any deep damage that requires building up, yes, I think that would do it.

If you have any leftover you can be popular at rallies or meetups and give away small amounts to repair a chip etc.

I sent a message to Janet H. about this latest thread closure. Never seen this sort of situation before, threads closed for a reason, but not this.

If Janet H is monitoring this thread (or any of the moderators), I did another quick run through of the topics and found two other potentially inadvertently closed threads in addition to the one Ron pointed out (“Question re gelcoat repair” in Problem Solving | Owners helping each other). The two other threads are:

“WA: Ft Casey Spring Escape Rally April 21-26, 2024” in Rallies, Get Togethers…..

“Escape 17a, 2018, salem, or” in Escape RVs for Sale

Yes and there was a response from her a few days ago that seemed to indicate that they were now on top of the situation.

Time will tell.

In a case like that it may be more effective to PM her directly.

I just read quickly through the other tread, I agree, looked okay.
It has been reopened.

Now how to figure out how to combine these two.

Yep, maybe a moderator would merge them.
