Hot water heater not working.

Hot water heater not coming on. Water heater switch lights up but the DSI FLT light does not come on. Tried both gas and electric. Fuse looks good. Pressed reset but no luck.

Are you sure there is water in the heater, that the bypass valves are in the right position?

Could be the control board. They have been known to fail.

FYI the DSI FLT light should only come on when the unit is trying to light. It will go off when gas is lit. Light will stay on if it locks out after 3 tries. The light does not come on at all related to electric operation.

Happened to me, twice. Advice at factory - Possible electric was left on and tank empty, burns out element (haven't determined for sure). Same with the gas, but trips breaker at heater outside. Make sure it is off inside and water in it. Then hit Reset on back of heater, turn on inside switch, check for burn sound. I thought I had reset it and tried again with gas first time, which still failed. Reset after getting home and worked fine. 2nd failure just followed procedure mentioned and worked fine.

I also have the 'flt' light when I try to light the water heater. Have never had any problem before. Tried the reset button (propane only) with no change.

I think it is because we are at 8,000 ft in Ouray, Co. Will follow up when we go lower.

The propane function in our January 2020 21C worked well at 10,000 feet several weeks ago. You might trying tapping on the gas valve to see if that makes a difference.
