Hot Water tanks causes alarm

While draining hot water tank and alarm sounds I think from the lower mounted alarm. It goes off as the tank nears empty and lasts about 15 minutes. Same think happened last year. Propane is not only off but tanks are disconnected prior and have been for several weeks. Why is this happening?

Dirty filter on the propane alarm or low battery(ies). Either will cause the alarm.

Mere speculation

Heating water can change it's nature and structure. It is theoretically possible to produce hydrogen gas from it, or other gases in the heating process. Other gases from being what else is in the water and mineral content. If left filled and unheated, other gases can be created with microbial action.

Like I noted, just speculation. Not anything I'd fret too much about.

Meaning the one mounted near floor level? That would be the LP or Propane gas leak detector, which also detects most other explosive or combustible gasses. As noted, the water tank may be holding hydrogen or other combustible gasses, but odd that it goes off inside when you drain it outside.

The detectors will go off when the voltage drops lower than normal also.

See these links

I guess my speculation was reasonable.
